Plane missing out of Gulf Shores Alabama

My friend called and said our buddies missing and that he was taking off out of Gulf Shores Alabama yesterday anybody have any information. I don't know what plane he was in he has an RV6

Looks like he made it to the coast or close too it.

Yes, misssing , never completed the route. If you look at the end there is a white line.

It also shows that he was heading to Ocala, and diverted to Cross City. Flightaware is wonky sometimes.
 
No way you would have gotten me into the air yesterday. About the time he was passing over my house the winds were 15-20 with gusts of 39 out of the east.

Not sure what it was like near Cross City.
 
I saw something his wife put on Facebook supposedly his flight instructor was with him so that information may not be accurate but they have found parts of the plane .

I don't know much about FlightAware but if you look at the Timeline last time they showed him in the air was at 12:14 a.m. yesterday at 6100 feet.

you think if they ran out of fuel or had a mechanical issue that didn't disable the plane you would see it coming down but it just drops off the radar so I'm wondering if they hit some IMC and got the wings ripped off or something.

Maybe somebody knows how to interpolate this better than I can
