Microsoft Fiight Sim is back......in 2020

I was able to get it downloaded in about 3 hours last night through Steam. Might head out of work early today :D

So it turns out it didn't finish downloading at all, only made it to about 57GB. Spent the next 2 days trying every trick on the FS forum to try and get it to finish downloading to no avail. Deleted it, got the Steam refund, will wait until the first patch comes out.

Good idea. I have a lot tied up in FSX:SE so I’m not anxious to replace all that. I’m hoping that SPAD.Next will make my Saitek flight boxes compatible with MSFS 2020

Patch coming out on Friday that is supposed to fix the major install issues and get Simconnect working correctly.

Like others, I had several failed download attempts before finally getting it installed. I pre-ordered the Premium-Deluxe version from the MS store and the download nightmare was one of the worse experiences I've ever had!

That said, the sim is highly impressive! Visually, aircraft sounds as well as flight models. So far I've tried several GA planes (Cub,172, SR22, Bonanza, TBM, etc). All are incredible for default aircraft! Rudder sensitivity is probably the biggest issue and should be one of their first priorities. Way too sensitive and jerky. Not smooth at all, even after playing with the sensitivity settings.

First thing I did was fly over my house and neighborhood in North Jersey. :D WOW!

Track IR works flawlessly as well as my YOKO yoke, TQ6+, rudder pedals, hotas Warthog stick & throttle. My Desktop Aviator switch panel only partially works (Mag key switch inop), all other switches work. My Realsimgear G1000 isn't compatible yet (they're working on it).

I like the option to select and pre-download scenery areas to your PC, with three levels of detail available. Low, Medium and High.
I'm running a 4TB HDD and a 1TB SSD. I7-7700k OC@5Ghz, 32gb DDR4, RTX2080ti.

Having flown my first MSFS version on a Commodore-64 (back in 1983) as a 17 year old kid, flying around Meigs Field, I couldn't have imagined seeing this level of detail on a home PC.
The weather--wind, turbulence, clouds and rain...OMG!

Speaking of Meigs, I have to see if they included it. If not, I'm sure ORBX will.

I hopped over to JFK to check if they programmed the "rabbit" for the Canarsie Approach. Nope, what a disappointment. I was really hoping to finally see a flightsim with the curving lead-in approach lights modeled. Oh well, maybe ORBX or some other third party developer will do it eventually.

Overall, I'm highly impressed with the initial release and I'm looking forward to updates/optimizations and of course VR support for my Rift-S.

I thought Meigs was removed from later versions of FSX, so I'd think they would have stripped it from MS2020 as well.
True and I forgot about the fact that the new sim uses satellite data (a couple of years old, I think), so KCGX wouldn't be there. Hopefully, ORBX will do it justice as they have for existing sims. I have the X-Plane and Aerofly FS2 versions. They did a spectacular job! The only thing missing is the Goodyear blimp that was in the older MSFS versions. Having that blimp sitting there over Soldier Field, was a real treat.
