Overnight in Memphis

Thinking of flying to Memphis for an overnight to kick off Labor Day Weekend. We'll be VFR. Recommendations for airport/ground trans? KAWM is probably easiest in/out for us coming from Kansas City, but open to ideas.
 
KAWM works, Dewitt Spain is a little closer to downtown and is right on the river. Both airports are good options, but I haven’t been there in quite some time. I guess it depends on where you’ll be staying in Memphis. If you’re headed out east, there are better options.

Thanks @Boone. Dewitt Spain may actually work a little better, much appreciated.
 
FYI, Memphis is rolling up the sidewalks right now at 10pm. All restaurants and bars have to close.
 
DeWitt/Spain (M01) is an awesome airport. Gas is cheap, and the Uber ride to downtown Memphis is short and easy. There are several nice hotels in that downtown area, the most “famous” being the Peabody.

Even coming from KC, there’s some good bbq. I’d avoid Rendevous though, i wasn’t impressed at all. City BBQ is solid though.
 
I did my Memphis stop at KOLV. Cheap fuel, Uber/Lyft and 9 days of ramp fees they said not to worry about since I got gas

Unlike "some" KC guys, I enjoy Memphis BBQ...just haven't been there in years. Thanks for the tip!
 
Bass Pro is another spot you have to hit up. Nice view and a bar at the the top of the pyramid.

Thanks for the PIREP. We got moved around by work requirements...so Mrs. Bulldog has a new toy and I think we'll drive down this weekend...and I'll be asking for left seat time.

Peabody Hotel for the Duck March.
(Or, the Commodore Hotel, but I don't think it's really in Memphis).
