Just got to thinking, anyone have some ideas for useful things to 3D print in the aviation world? Pilot gear, hangar stuff, little things around the cockpit to make life easier or more organized? What would you find handy to have?

Headset holder? Not sure about certificated, but I can mount whatever in my experimental.

I 3d printed a go-pro mount that clamps onto piper tie-down rings. Works pretty good, camera didn't fall off.

A guy on Beechtalk uploaded a 3d file for a yoke mounted keyboard holder for the Avidyne keyboard. I had it printed in alumide and it works great. *Edit* Replaced with a better image of the holder.

Something that fits into a hamburger hole and can hold batteries or cables or pencils or a phone?

Is that so you can type up your PhD thesis while on a hamburger run?

I've read posts (here? Maybe Facebook) of guys printing the deflectors for piper fresh air vents.

I've been real close to buying one, but I have a lathe and a mill I hardly use, so it'd probably be another dust collector. I would've printed my stratux case and window mount if I had the ability.

Fuel cap prybar, warning light driver case, SCAT to gasper reducer, iPad mount. Throttle grip in the works.

Nauga,
where everything looks like a nail

Look up some of the plastic Cessna air vent replacement parts. They are unobtainable and even if you happen to find one, they are stupid expensive yet still old and brittle.
