Is there an STC, to move the Battery, from the Back, behind Baggage compartment, to the front of the firewall, and then install, a smaller, high output battery? My Customer, was wondering if thats a true fact, or fiction. Thank You, for y'alls help. Don

I kinda like batteries in the tailcone myself. Its a heck of a lot easier to access them in a pinch, and easier to jump from there.

I prefer it in the nose because my engine heater keeps the battery warm in the winter and it's a pretty big weight savings.

I hadn't considered those reasons when I read the OP, and they're good ones. A preheated battery will provide much better starting oomph.

Thank you, one and all, I will pass on these suggestions, again thank you, Don Ellsworth

Don-

Also, don't forget what it will do to the balance portion of your w&b. Our 1967 182 with full fuel and two big guys is close to the forward max CG. (We do also have a heavier 3 bladed prop) I would not want to move the battery up front, making landings even trickier..... :(

As a 182P owner, glad to have the counter balance of battery weight aft.
