I am very deep in the woods here on the study for the written test and want to try to take the test to coincide with the end of my Gleim test prep.

Any idea on scheduling times? How far in advance do I need to get it on the calendar?

Just checked - here in West Michigan, 2 or 3 days ahead. Should be getting my instructor's endorsement this evening!
 
Did you check online? FAA.gov website?
 
I remember scheduling mine a few hours before I took it. YMMV
 
Last year. I used a testing center that permitted walking.

But that all changed this past January.

BTW, where can I get the interactive states flown map like you have in your signature?
 
Most testing centers are under-utilized, you can just schedule when you're ready. A week before should work for most sites.
 
I could have scheduled mine for the next morning if I had wanted to when I booked mine - the calendar was pretty open. You just have to make an account on PSI Testing, for which you'll need your IACRA number, and then you can pick where, when and what you want to do. I don't live in a terribly big city, though, so availability may be different in your area.
 
I give up on the map thing, and I have only flown in Florida and Utah so far anyway.... Student Sport Pilot
