Want To Buy Buying a C-150 or the “best airplane one can afford”?

Sorry about the delayed response. I bought the Zodiac in May, 2016 and converted it to experimental through a DAR in November, 2016. It's perfect for the kind of flying I do, and economical to operate and maintain. It burns about five and a half gallons/hour in cruise and because it's experimental I can perform my own maintenance and minor modifications. I have my FAA Light Sport Repairman - Inspection certificate and can perform and sign off my annual condition inspections.
Thanks Stan. Sounds like you figured it all out, from owning to maintaining an experimental aircraft. Good for you! Will consider LS repairman-inspection certificate if end up buying a RV 6A /7A.

Nothing to consider. RV6 and RV7are not LSAs. (Too fast, many too heavy, and all are too bitchen :)) The only repairman certificate available is for the primary builder of an E-AB.

On the other hand, you could go with an RV12 which is LSA. Then you can do the LSRI or LSRM. See this for more: https://rainbowaviation.com/?p=3198

Ravioli is right; The LSRI and LSRM certificates only apply to LSAs. If you buy a Van's airplane, the RV12 is your only choice for a repairman certificate unless you are the primary builder of an Experimental - Amateur Built Van's model.

I had my Zodiac recertificated to ELSA by Brian Carpenter, DAR and A&P/IA at Rainbow Aviation. I also did the LSRI class there.

Thanks for your quick reply. Saved my time running towards the wrong direction.

There’s the Liberty-XL. It’s 2 place, comes IFR equipped. You’ll want the ones with the Vanguard useful load upgrade.

Wrong direction?

A Repairmans certificate is not required to repair (or modify) an Experimental Amateur Built aircraft like an RV 6 or 7.
(Or soothing with similar performance at a lower price like a T-18, Wittman Tailwind, etc.)

And, congrats on the PPL!
