In his latest video he instructs his buddies to switch to 'fingers'! Other POA triggering actions include use of a drone, flying in formation, making youtube videos, being a hipster, and generally having fun.

*real talk....I really enjoy his videos and if somebody reports him to the FSDO, they're a dick. That said, there might be an educational opportunity here WRT the proper air-to-air channel if somebody reached out to him.

**More real talk.....I really expected the vulgarity filter to catch "dick"

As pointed out in the other post, FSDO/FAA don't care. This would be an FCC violation.

If you'er gonna snitch, at least pick the right 3 letter organization

just in case you think the FAA is not watching...

@tonycondon , the black knob on the left he keeps moving forward and backward as he maneuvers, is that the trim?

Black Handle is flaps.

Probably not clear from the embedded video but Bruno is getting a 7 month suspension for that flight. He just recently put the video back up.

From his comment:
Update 10 months later: I uploaded this video and 4 days later had over 200k views. The video got reported and the FAA had serious concerns with this performance/flight. Lesson learned: Don't fly any kind of performance for any group or crowd (even if asked by the airshow management and cleared through the airboss) if you are NOT an approved airshow performer (have something called a SAC card)!!! The FAA will surely come after you with violations. The end result for me: $$ thousands spent on legal fees and I will soon be taking a 7 month break from flying. :( I was told I was very luck to not lose my license over this. Yikes! Why am I sharing all this? I only had good intentions of showing what a glider is capable of doing, but I am not a trained airshow performer and I didn't know the rules for airshow performances. If in doubt - don't do it! I hope this will help other pilots to not have to go through what I have over the last 10 months. Cheers and stay safe! Bruno - B4

From his comment:

Interesting. I could see how someone could do this. I only knew about the rules on aerobatics because I was at a small airshow, and one of the performers did a routine at high altitude... above maybe 3000agl? The announcer explained he had to have a certain number of hours (or maybe performances? ) before he could be licensed to perform close to the crowd.

I thought on one of our discussions about Jerry Wagner it was explained that the faa wouldn't use YouTube videos as evidence of violations. I bet someone at the show reported him. Im a little surprised the airport management wouldn't know the regulations, unless it was just an informal fly in and didn't have any actual performers or a notamed aerobatic box.

I'm confused. What did he do that was in violation of anything?

Dunno what was said about Jumpin Jerry, but I suspect that the FAA isn't looking for violations on their own. However, if someone complains about what they have seen, the FAA will follow up - Tucker Gott, our very own Just Plane Silly, and Trent Palmer have all been called in to yea olde FSDO. So far, I have not made it to the "reported to the FAA cool kid" level, but that doesn't stop me from trying... :)

Wow, I'm surprised they came down on him that hard. Pretty obvious from the video being posted that he had no idea he was doing anything wrong. I can also see how being asked by event organizers to do it would lead him to think it was perfectly fine- you'd expect those people to be aware of the requirements. Not an excuse blah blah PIC is responsible for everything but seems like usually the FAA isn't so harsh in these types of situations.

He's not a hipster, because he flies a bush plane.

Him and Patey and a few others give me that "bro dude" vibe so I can't really watch them comfortably. I used to be a "bro dude" myself, so I'm probably just jealous that I moved on to being a boring old dude now and mostly want people off my lawn.

It's also a commonly-used nickname for "Richard," so auto-filtering it out would create problems.

IMO, the first step should be to try a little public education by writing a comment about it on the YouTube page where the video is posted. I just got done posting my attempt at this.

He's not a hipster in any regard, dude doesn't even have a mustache, beard or manbun.

Don't get me wrong, I love the guy's videos, and I wish I could be as cool as him, but he's just a little too.....I don't know....pretty? Hipster is probably the wrong term. Or maybe I'm getting old enough that young people irritate me lol.

I like Trent's videos. He's humble and I'm a little jealous of his circle of friends, how often they fly together and what they do. It's amazing and annoying at the same time that people who post videos on the internet can become an instant celebrity. I'm thinking of a kid from Texas that yesterday was a snot nosed spoiled kid and look at him now...and no it isn't Briany.

Oh no....now Christy and Bryan are doing it too.....

I’m a member of the CAOMF Club myself.

As long as we're coming clean, last year I got reported to the FAA and the EPA for flying too low over a reservoir.
Because, you know, a J-3 Cub is THE weapon of choice for terrorists.
Both parties laughed out loud when they heard the story and apologized for troubling me.

Were you water skiing?

We have a couple lakes nearby that are the water supply for a city about 25 miles away. Not a ton of options if you had a problem in the area. I was flying over them yesterday thinking I can't imagine what kind of trouble you would be in if you decided that was the best option if the spinning thing stopped spinning. They do allow small boats with 10HP engines but they don't allow swimming.
