Plane lands on highway caught on video Quebec

Prop was still turning as he taxied off to the side of the road.

At first I thought he would hit that one overhead sign. Pretty cool that his speed was so close to traffic speeds.

Prop was still turning
I noticed as well, but at the start of the video it looks like there's a bit of smoke..

Wonder what happened, stuck valve? Lost distributor cap?

Damn, I was gonna mention the smoke too but it also looked like pixelization so didn't want to read something into it that wasn't there.

CFI be like "when I said you were ready to solo, drop me off and do 3 in the traffic pattern, I didn't mean NOW! Sacre bleu!"

Great job squeezing in b/w the traffic with alot of aerial obstructions.

amazing! traffic kept moving when it became clear, or shoulda been clear, that the plane was gonna land.

I have read that highways in Alaska may be routinely used as landing strips if one avoids traffic.

Most are Ok to land on, making sure traffic is clear. There are a few spots on a couple roads that are not to be used for non-emergency landings.

I landed a C-207 on a road once to make a pit stop. I pulled into the scenic overlook for parking. There was no traffic when I was landing, but the tourist came out of everywhere for a closer look.....

The drivers didn't do much to disprove the reputation of Quebec drivers :p

If a plane lands in front of me on a road, I'm going to stop and ask if I can help. Just sayin...

One wud think ya wouldn’t need to be a fellow pilot to think that way...

the one dude was totally tailgating him. he musta been from jersey.

Seriously. Like he was waiting for him to get out of the way and as the pilot was turning to the right he turned his blinker on and went around him!

I saw this posted on FB and someone commented on how no one pulled over to see if the pilot was ok. I replied why wouldn't the pilot be ok? I mean they're going to need a ride I suppose, but other than that, they should be fine. They said well maybe there was medical issue. Obviously the poster was not a pilot, you don't land on a highway for a medical issue, there are airports for that.

Might need a change of underwear or a beer? :)

apparently carb ice as per the pilot.. i doubt carb ice will lead to smoke though

Choking off the air would make an over-rich mixture, hence the smoke is really partially-burned gas.
