Want for simulator

Pretty cool!
Holy crap! That must be a blast. I'd be in heaven with that thing LOL.

I see he's enjoying my favorite bird, the Hornet.. DCS F/A-18C.

I'm just getting back into it after about a year. I had to disassemble my flightsim setup to move into my new home and just haven't had the time to dedicate. I'm just now getting things setup again and relearning the basics. I sold my Oculus Rift CV1 and upgraded to the Rift S but haven't set it up yet, so in this picture you see it running on the curved monitor.
Eagle Dynamics have done an incredible job and they're still working on it. The level of detail (unclassified) is mind boggling! A true study-sim, as opposed to a dumbed-down game. Just starting up the jet from cold/dark, running the A and B fire test, setting up the systems, radios, navigation, etc is rewarding, even before getting airborne. A ton of stuff to learn.

Practically every switch, system, weapon, radar mode, radios, etc.. are modeled in detail. The mission editor is fantastic. You can setup practice missions to your liking. You can even dial in the tanker's Tacan frequency in your Tacan receiver, select Tacan T/R and Air-to-Air mode to get bearing and distance info to the tanker, then practice AA refueling, then send your wingman to the tanker. I use a separate program called Voice-Attack (with a dedicated DCS World plugin) to use verbal comms with ATC, other aircraft, including the tanker and AWACS, as well as the boat. Incredible stuff.

Voice comms really increase the immersion factor (especially in VR) as opposed to flicking through the onscreen menu system to communicate.

They are currently working on a Super Carrier add-on that will have a full deck crew for carrier ops! (the existing carriers are empty at the moment). A dream come true for us wannabe naval aviators:D

Thrustmaster Warthog throttle with Hornet stick. I swapped out the Warthog stick.
Yes, that's a real fire extinguisher to the left of the rudder pedals LOL:D

This sim was made for VR. Everything is more natural and the tough, challenging task such as AAR and formation flying becomes quite a bit easier to handle than on a 2D monitor.

Very interesting.

Three degrees of freedom, even though you can only see two. The third is seat belt tension down into the seat. Maybe it's a half?

There as a fair bit of description about the project here (from the youtube comments).

I read through the forum posts a couple of times. Very interesting details about the project. Although not a project I'd likely ever undertake, I am curious about what the approximate cost was. Any idea? I Could't find anything.

I have a simpler sim setup.

Saitek yoke + throttle quadrant
Ch-pro pedals
30" widescreen monitor
x-plane 11, but really can't wait for the new MS flight sim to get here.

I just added the simionic G1000 apps. I sprung for one of the full bezel cases for the MFD and I use an ipad in a standup case for the PFD. So far, pretty impressed, but I need a lot more time learning the MFD...task for this weekend, along with reading the Instrument Flying Handbook.

My setup is close to yours except I have the saitek pro flight rudder pedals as well as the multi panel. I was using two screens, but now use a vr headset.

I'm using x plane 11 and while the new Microsoft sim is going to be cool, pretty sure it's going to be an always online type deal.

I recommend getting the Honeycomb Alpha yoke. It's at least an order of magnitude better than the Saitek, and no center detent.
