Quit with the negative waves, man.
We are trying to get a bluetooth signal from a 345, and getting no GTX pairing on the ipad.

We removed an Fs210 and 430W which was connected to port 3 in and out at the GTX, and turned the ports off . Both of the cables were removed. After installing an IFD 540, the RS422 out from the 345 to the 210 was removed, and rerouted to a GMX and format changed to GMX FMT 1. That works fine.

We are trying to get ADS-B wx to FF on an iPad.

The 345 bluetooth was off while the FS 210 was connected per the IM. we turned it back on and are trying to pair it with an iPad. After rebooting the iPad and trying fresh to pair using the 345 install instructions, with a couple different devices, it's apparent the 345 isn't producing a signal. We checked the hsdb to see if it was set to GTN. It's not.

Is there something we're missing? Ports off, Bluetooth turned on, pairing instruction filled yo a "T". Is there something else that must be done when removing a 210 and going back to internal bluetooth?

The GTX-345 has a configuration mode that turns off it's Bluetooth in favor of the FS210's bluetooth. It's a 5 minute job to turn the 345's bluetooth back on. I don't have the procedure handy, but a search on YouTube will will show the procedure to enter the config menu on the GTX-345.

Many Av shop will do this for you for free or very little charge.

We did that and are still not able to pair. I suspect that the 345 isn't able to output ADS-B wx and traffic data on both RS422 to a GMX 200 and via bluetooth simultaneously. I've not been able to get any confirmation on this as yet though.

So when you attempt to pair, what are you seeing? Does your device even see the GTX 345 as a device available for pairing? I know of no limitation on RS-422 vs Bluetooth, and I've seen FS210 + GTX345 installs where the bluetooth was still turned on (improperly) on the 345 (which also uses the 422 connection) and it could connect to it so I doubt it's that. Are you able to get to the bluetooth menu on the GTX 345 (in non-config mode)? It has to be on that menu for pairing to be enabled.

We don't even see the GTX as an available device. We tried pairing in the config mode. the owner tried to pair in the bluetooth menu yesterday with no success. Tried clearing all BT devi es from the ped, and after a fresh reboot.

You can't pair in config mode, only in normal mode and only from the Bluetooth page. Don't have a 345 in front of me right now, but found this video showing the pairing:
Video says you need to press cursor in the bluetooth menu to enable pairing, I don't recall that being necessary, just being on the bluetooth page, but I'll double check later today. It is certainly possible that the bluetooth is dead on the device, but seems pretty unlikely.

That's a great video. I'm going to send this to the owner.
We tried it in the Bluetooth on page together, but got nowhere. He was going to go back and try again. I'm going ask him to compare his procedure to this one. It probably op error...I hope!

Chip, remember the 345's bluetooth capability must be disabled for the FS210 to work. After removing the FS210 does not re-enable the 345's bluetooth ability, until specifically re-enabled through the config process. Bluetooth capability must be turned back on, then follow the pairing process.

I will know this soon enough. i am connecting 345 to GMX 200 and will also pair it to my iThing. will report back if she is ready to fly today

Yep, did that. Shut 345 down, press on and ent at the same time, cursorsor to find option, yadda yadda. Enabled bluetooth in the config menu. Done and dustedd ad infinitum. In the non- config menu, bluetooth shows on. Thereafter, did the pairing procedure exactly as shown in the video this AM. No joy. Isn't even showing the 345 as a pairing option.

That would be great. If yours pairs up, I'm going with dead internal bluetooth transceiver as my theory of the case. Can a Garmin dealer bench check that, or does it have to go back to Garmin?

no idea. but i am hoping i will get traffic and WX on GMX and my iThing... else i am going to freak out and start selling TP on eBay to make up for the money i spent on that ADSB thing

Good luck. Let us know.

update: so the plane is not flyable yet, they are trying to figure out a strange static leak. but the 345 is operational, so i took a few pics and looks like it is feeding data to GMX 200 just fine. now remember, its still sitting in a big hangar with no GPS lock, so until i can fly (hopefully early next week) i wont know if everything is working as expected or not.

i was able to get my iThing connected via BT and for few seconds when the GPS did latch on the signal i found 2 targets on my EFB.

Ok, I guess that's ball game for us. Looks like the BT trans river in the 345 is inop. Unfortunately the shop where he got the 345 from is shut down for the duration of the contagion.

Crap.

Thanks for your help.
