I flew to Lakefront in New Orleans KNEW yesterday and had to get something out of the plane today. The Cardinal was parked with a lot of kerosene burners today. It’s nice that the folks at Flightline First give me the same great service that they give the guys in the jets.

Decided to take wife & daughter on a quick 35 minute flight north to Lake Michigan. Clear day. Wife says “can we fly over there”? Me: “Um, I’ve always wanted to, but we didn’t plan for it...hold on”. I had downloaded the Chicago Fly chart, studied it for 5 minutes, and along with what I remembered from POA posts, figured now or never. Was on FF and they just told me to stay VFR and out of Class B, C, D. Did it at 2,000 ft.

Pretty cool. Did a 180 at the Baha’i Temple.

At one point ATC asked me how far I was going. I said “Temple” since it was a VFR checkpoint and the controller didn’t have a clue, he said he wanted a distance.

Glad I decided to add an hour of fuel to the tanks before we left. Never know when you might want it (rather than need it). Good lesson in fuel philosophy...

What folks say about hearing engine sound changes over the water are true, lol.
