Southeast peeps, who wants some good grass?

has anyone camped there before? I have a list of questions I'd like to ask them but maybe someone here knows the deal....

Unfortunately, Work has me grounded that weekend.

Facilities are excellent so peeing in the woods will be by choice. LoL

Camping? o_O Ewww.

:p

I have an Angel Flight mission scheduled that weekend. I'll see if I can swing flying over, but I won't be camping.

Well, that was short lived. I actually AM working that weekend. I might be able to pop in for a couple hours on Friday afternoon.

I've been there once at the eclipse. It's back-40 type camping. Learned to remember that there is a checklist for soft field take offs that includes flaps.

What's the question?

wondering if there are assigned camping spot or u just drive around until u find one......are there fire pits at each campsite, can we reserve spots next to each other, yadda yadda.....

You're directed to a parking spot, they fill in as you come, no reservations. If you want to camp together, arrive together. They might be able to save a parking spot for a late arrival, but remember that everyone is already going to have camp set up and probably won't appreciate a plane coming in and blowing stuff all over.

There's no fire pits around the airplanes, the other 363 days of the year, it's just a grass field. There are a couple of buildings that serve as a gathering spot on the south end near camping. The dinner and such is served on the north end and you cannot cut across the runway, so walking around it.

Recommend arriving earlier than later. There is some parking/camping among the trees or at least with a good view of the runway. A cooler and a lawn chair in the shade by the tower is a great spot to watch arrivals.

Hmmm...just saw that they do have "premium" camping, which apparently is reserved. Probably want to call them about that, I don't remember that being an option before.

I'm not flying in, but I might drive it.
