Oconee County Ga

I see the weather near where his track ended, yes there can be accuracy issues with corresponding radar. Even a used GDL-39 will put a fairly useful radar picture in the iPad. This Malibu should of been well beyond that.

One witness reported ‘the plane came down in pieces’.

Hmm this reminds me of a Malibu that went down off the coast here "in pieces" in bad weather.

Sheriff's office reported debris approximately 1/2-1 mile away from the main wreckage.

I have to wonder if he tried to avoid fast moving storm cells using NEXRAD. Honestly if he had stayed direct to destination he would have missed the line, but that would have taken him directly over ATL. I wonder he was vectored into that turn, or that was a filed course.

That would not be typical routing. I was wondering at first if they had some kind of in-flight issue and tried to divert to KAHN (Athens) only to fly right into that cell? The ADS-B seems to go from 6100 to 5800 and then just stop reporting.
