Wanted: Aviation materials for 8-11 year olds

The original "I don't know it all" of aviation.
I just had a pleasant conversation with a dad and his 9 year old about aviation. They saw my CFI books spread out on the sandwich shop table and asked some questions about learning to fly.

Dad has some passing interest, but said that his son is ga-ga for airplanes. And it showed. The young lad was super interested when I showed him a sectional and a plotter and explained at his level how pilots use that to figure out where they are and plan their trips.

For the dad, I answered a lot of questions about aviation and provided a short list of places where he can learn more. I also told him about Gleim's Learn to Fly booklet.

But what I am lacking is things I can provide that would pique and encourage the interest of 8-11 year olds.

So if folks can provide sites and downloadable resources that are age appropriate for these younglings, I'd appreciate it!.
 
5ECC953C-4752-4559-B3BC-A9F4E511F8B7.jpeg I looked at the link and it’s nice that there are programs, but I would really like to see literature aimed at the various age groups. I have two seven year old granddaughters rhat would eat it up.

The picture is of the beginner. The one pictured has an Olpa that flies, But the other has a lot more stick time because her Father also flies. Would love to have material at their reading level.

i would think some old fashioned magazines might be somewhat interesting...lots of pictures to dream over.
oh wait, that how I did it.... kids today wouldn't understand what to do with the paper.

They could try to find the buttons on the pages.
 
NASA website has huge amount of material aviation and space in multiple education categories.
EAA has material but it's geared to Young Eagles and contains free ground school, compliments of Sporty's. May be too advanced at this point.

Your tax dollars are paying for it, go use it!

Eaa young eagles program has literature that may be helpful.
 
I’ve got a bunch of sport aviation magazines that I could send. Not sure how the articles would go over at that age, but there are nice photos. PM me if you’re interested.
 
For a child, a subscription to PoA should be perfect. :D

Look for some aviation fiction on Amazon. Better for dreaming and catching the bug than the technical stuff.
