Aircraft partnership sought (KGTU, KAUS, KHYI)

Update, I've since decided to join Chandelle, our local flying club. Meeting the board yesterday have reinforced me in that decision. The board had cast an impression of having the right mix of enthusiasm and general level-headedness (I am saying this for the benefit of the austin guys that are looking for a partnership to join). I am stoked. The search is over.

Curious to hear how it works out. Seems like 30 people for 3 planes would be pretty difficult with scheduling but maybe they've figured out a way...

It's actually 28 pilots. Availability is pretty good. At any one time about a third of our members are flying several hours a month , a third are flying maybe once a month, and a third have not flown in several months to years.

I too trained at pilots choice and just got my private pilot certification. I am looking into joining a club or partnership. Very interested in those options.

I will say that from the point of view of my flying club GA in central is definitely on an upswing.

We are getting serious inquiries on a regular basis, and few or no shares are for sale as of yesterday, anyway.

I really think central Texas has room for a couple of more ownership clubs, especially an ownership club with newer airplanes.

The demand is clearly there.

I was thinking the same thing. Surprised that there are only two clubs in the Austin area. Chandelle Flying Club looks like the better of the two. Wondering if anyone is interested in starting a club similar to Chandelle? I have no experience in these matters, but it certainly sounds like it could be a possible option. I'm thinking it would take between 8 and 10 people to start a Club with one Airplane to start.

Definitely. I'd sign up in a 1/3 or 1/4 of something newer such as a DA-40 or SR-20. Maybe an SR-22 if the price was right.

The only thing I've found so far around here is PlaneSmart for Cirrus and they are quite costly.

There is a lot of work involved in starting a new partnership. In order to get started, some ground rules need to be hashed out. Some of the key things needed are:
1) Get the right mix of people to start with. Making decisions on how the partnership will serve the needs of the group.
2) Choosing the right equipment. Budget and Finances needed to buy the Airplane, insurance, maintanance, hanger, etc...
3) Type of partnership... LLC, etc...
4) Drafting the rules of use of the equipment... making it so that it works for all.
5) Finding a location/home for the Airplane.
6) Much, much more to do...

Can someone point me to the Mooney partnership in AUS? Can't find any listing or want ads.

Also any other partnerships that you might know of. Looking for a traveling airplane.

Thanks
Dan

Last night the Chandelle Flying Club voted to equip our Archer with ADS-B out using the Freeflight System that is currently on sale.

The general consensus seemed to be that we'll probably upgrade one plane a year, I think most members don't want to wait until the last minute.

Flying hours are way up from the last few years, which is good news all around. There is a waiting list for share sales at the moment.

From some off the cuff remarks at the club meeting I sensed that DA-40/SR-20 was not even going to be seriously considered as a future club airplane. As a new guy I'd have loved to dig into that line of thinking, though... Anyone knows of a successful glass clubs/partnerships in existence. Seems like glider clubs being flying the glass ships for over 30 years now....

I am also looking for a partnership on a SR-20 or DA-40 at KAUS. If anyone else is still looking please feel free to PM me.

I currently rent from Genesis at KGTU, but would be interested in a share under an LLC out of KGTU. I may have an A&P that has an hanger and/or a CFII that is interested, as well. In the few conversations I have had with others, we are thinking about a 182 (fixed) or Piper Dakota (IFR).

Feel free to message me if interested in discussing further. I am definitely over competing with students to rent a plane.

I've been a member of Chandelle for over a year now and have been really happy with them. We recently adopted, growing my family from 4 to 5, so my flying has since been limited and our family trips now involve taking the car *shudders*.

I'm looking for a partnership in something with 6 seats. KAUS, KGTU, KHYI, T47, they'd all be fine. Preferably a single but wouldn't be against an excuse to get my multi.

If anyone hears of anything please message me and let me know.

David,
If you make any progress with a six seater, let me know. I'm flying mostly out of KAUS, but KGTU is the same distance for me. I too have 5 in the family and Piper Arrows and 182s don't have the room...

Likewise...I currently fly out of KGTU and am looking to get into a 6-seater as well. Would be very interested in a partnership out of KGTU or KEDC. Am currently in a fantastic partnership 182, so this would be additional to that.

David, Phillip or nacadoches... Are any of you still looking for a partnership at aus or hyi?

Looking for a mooney 201 or 231

I'd be interested in a 6 seater partnership out of KGTU if anyone ends up with any leads. I ran into a very cool guy driving a very nice Cherokee Six at the pumps at KGTU several months ago and he was based out of Lago. Based on our conversation he seemed open to a partnership...but it was very casual and I didn't even think of noting the N number or anything. But, I also have a family of 5 and although for a lot of the flying I do the 235 I'm in works great - I'd be interested in a 6 seater if it was available and was the right setup.

I fly out of GTU and would be interested in something with six seats as well. I have mostly been looking for an SR22T partnership, but I have been looking so long that I could easily be talked into something with 6 seats... Malibu, 210, Bonanza...

I have my eye on something along the Bonanza/Saratoga line. Would love to be able to haul 4 relatives. Looks like we definitely have some interest in the GTU area.

Just bought a 1979 Mooney M20K 231 with very nice interior panel and leather. If anyone is interested in 1/4 or 1/3 share let me know. Plane is at KHYI.

Recent Don Maxwell pre buy inspection, everything fixed.

I am new to this forum, but have been in the Austin area for about 20 years.

Looking for a high performance single engine or twin engine that can handle 5+ people plus luggage. Prefer later model with modern avionics. Anyone interested in co-ownership and housing it at KAUS?

Re: Aircraft partnership sought (KAUS)

Hello everyone, New member here. I thought that I'd add my reply onto this thread since it looks like there is a general interest among some of the members in a partnership in either a high performance four-place or six-place aircraft. I co-own a Columbia/Corvalis 350SL based at KAUS at hangar C-13, we took delivery of the the airplane new in 2007. My partner recently asked if I'd buy out his interest in the airplane since he isn't flying anymore, and so I'd be open to talking with anyone that would be interested in a 50% share of the Columbia, and since my young family seems to be getting heavier with each passing year, a 6-place would be another option and I'd simply trade in the Columbia, notwithstanding that I just love that bird!

And the timing of any this could be immediate, or longer term.
Cheers

Howdy, Mark!
Seen many pictures of your Columbia. Don't blame the weight increase on Timmy-boy, he looks like a darn twig every time we fly. :)

If I had the money, I'd love to jump on the Columbia. But such awesome toys are out of reach for me.

Would anyone be interested in DiamondShare if it were brought to KAUS? Either as renter ($1k/month) or owner (have to purchase a Diamond DA-40, but recoup $1k/month/renter). Up to 3 renters.

http://diamondshare.com/

DiamondShare helps aircraft owners change the paradigm of aircraft ownership by providing two or three “members” who pay a fixed monthly fee to the owner in exchange for access to fly the plane. “It’s not the old flying club or equity partnership arrangement – you are the sole owner of the aircraft, so you avoid all the complexities of partnership formation, financial overhead and management of those programs,” explains John Armstrong, founder of DiamondShare.

“This program is the sensible way to own or fly a new Diamond Aircraft,” he notes. “Most owners use their aircraft less than 100 hours a year and for some it’s difficult to justify ownership with this level of use. Also, aircraft like to be flown more than most individual owners fly. Through DiamondShare, the owner offsets much of the cost of ownership, making it easy to achieve the dream of owning and flying a modern plane while enjoying economics that are easy to justify.

Under DiamondShare, the owner sets the rules for its use, so he is assured of access to their plane on their schedule. In addition, the owner controls the funding stream by choosing the number of members they accept. Two members cover most or all of the monthly note on the aircraft and adding a third covers most of the other expenses.

DiamondShare comes with a long list of benefits available only to a DiamondShare owner, such as online scheduling, comprehensive insurance for the group, airplane-specific training tools, special feature upgrades to mention a few. Participating owners also receive additional benefits including comprehensive accounting and tax consultation, warranty service, training, financing, pre-paid subscriptions and more. Hey everyone,

I'm new to the site and just received my PPL. I am also interested in a 6 due to my family size. I wanted to find out if the interest is still out there. I would love to get together with anyone interested to talk about options.

I'm still interested, but really only in KGTU. I live about three minutes from the runway.

Seems like there is a lot of interest. But it looks like it might require someone going out on a limb and getting the aircraft, looks like there are quite a few interested in shares...

Isn't there any sites out there dedicated to aircraft partnerships? I see the posts on Barnstormers (after weeding through all the ads). Seems there is enough interest to have one.

I think you're looking at a 3 year waiting list for a hangar for KGTU

If you are looking for a 6-seater, I can try to put you in contact with one of the clubs I know. PM me if interested.

We're hanger neighbors (C 2/4/6 ) of this airplane. It's a beauty!

Update to Matthew’s post. We got an A36TN. AC, O2, ADSB, Tip Tanks, GWI... 190KTAS without O2. 200+ in the Flight Levels. All the shares are sold but it has been such a sweet airplane, we are expanding with a similar airplane and will be selling another 4 shares. It is hangered at KGTU in Georgetown, Texas. Anyone interested can contact us at owners@beechclub.org or check out the website beechclub.org.

I am a PPL looking to join a partnership or club in the Austin area. I currently rent fro Above and Beyond Aviation out of Atlantic Aviation at KAUS. I am tired of just renting. I am about to start complex and instrument. I hope that I can get some responses.
