Ability to search lawsuits?

Does anyone here have the ability to search for active or past lawsuits? I'm trying to figure out whatever happened to a lawsuit resulting from an airplane accident, and am not having much luck. Just curious to see whatever happened.

If in state court, each county may have different ways to look it up on their websites. Some you need a case #, others just a plaintiff/defense name. There is a federal court database too but you need to create a profile and log in. Just google-fu it for the information if you don't know it and piece it together. Should take less than 10 minutes for the accident info(who, where, when). Usually there will be some articles about the litigation, which should tell you what court it was filed in. And then onto the court website.

A law library with a Lexis Nexis subscription might help, if you have access to such a place.

Depends on your state. Some states have software that links the various counties together so you can see filings for all counties in the state in one location. The depth of the information will vary from state to state. Or there states have nothing in the way of e-filing so you have to go to each county courthouse (usually the clerk of the court) and conduct searches. Federal system is all electronic and has been for years. You need to establish an account and go from there. You can see most civil and bankruptcy filings plus criminal matters. You just move from District to District looking for cases. Google is also helpful and there are a number of private services such as Thompson-Reuters and others.
