Now that's a Buzz Job...

A fine of $25,000, and restitution of only $6,100? That is outrageous. The state is not due anything, it should all go to the totally crippled victim's family.

If the state of Alaska is going to pay for the care of the victim forever, and living expenses to the wife and children, perhaps the state is due something. What a financial tragedy for the surviving family.

it's hard to believe he got away with such a minimal sentence. The victim, as well as his wife and children will suffer for the rest of their lives. Justice was NOT served.

Anyone catch the last sentence in the article? Anyone care to translate?

You mean the suspended jail time? It basically means if you comply with probation, you don't go to jail.

That restitution is from the criminal trial. You can bet that a civil trial was at least threatened, and some sort of agreement was made.

That is some serious chit, can’t turn the clock back. Seems somewhat like playing ‘Russian roulette’ with a revolver, ‘oops, sorry’.

One can make life much harder when you’re STUPID, or do stupid stuff. Flying by 100’ above the water off to the side would of been plenty for the ‘fly-by’.

This idiot got caught on camera doing similar idiot business and hurting someone. Listen to that thonk when the wing hit his head.

From the article..

I would say to buzz a person with an airplane is stupid, no matter the height of an airplane.

Well, a big jet buzzed me from 32,000 feet yesterday. Should I walk or run to my lawyer.??

Russian Roulette should only be played with a revolver. A semi-auto ends the game too quickly.

Did you mean this: "Hancock, who now lives in Colorado, was given three months of unsupervised supervision and 18 months suspended jail time in addition to the fine and restitution he was ordered to pay."

"Unsupervised supervision" does seem like an oxymoron.

Exactly!!!!

Wonder if he or the company he flew for will be subject to a civil suit? 6k hardly helps the family

It just means that he doesn't have to show up for weekly check ins with a probation officer, go for pee tests etc. If he violates probation e.g. by committing some other offense, he would still get a violation hearing and may see 'backup time'.
