Lifemed King Air down Unalaska

Icy waters of Alaska, in the dead of winter. In the dark.
Um, no thanks.
Seems amazing they are ok.

This one will be interesting.

Glad they are ok.

I always get a lump in my throat when I hear about a medical flight going down. Those people are dedicated and selfless. I'm very happy this one had a good outcome.

Did they ever lift off or was this an overrun on takeoff ?

It is not that bad. I have around 6500 hours in Alaska and never bent anything.

Well, except for hitting a couple geese...

And everytime I landed on water it was solid...:)

The way the prop is bent it must have hit something solid before it went into the water.

The photos reveal contact with the water was violent. I'm so pleased to see the crew executed their egress without issue. After the hit they took, in a very disorienting situation, they left the aircraft through the emergency exit and successfully deployed their raft.

Training for emergencies will save your life, and this is a great example of that. Kudos to the crew.
