RST Engineering has reacquired the status of being able to provide the Appareo ESG ADSB units as well as the peripherals.

As always, RST intends to provide the best value and the lowest price for any avionics that we have in our inventory. We are featuring discounted pricing for our colleagues in EAA and AOPA as well as for any person constructing their own aircraft.

RST is also offering a cash award to any chapter whose member(s) buy their ADSB through us.

Please visit www.rstengineering.com and to the ADSB page where you will find a link to the email page listing all of our great ADSB equipment.

Thanks for all your support over the years. We’ll try and bring you the best value for the money that we can.

Cool, Jim, glad to hear it!

mine gets installed next month.

I got one on the first order. Got it installed two weeks ago. Thank you Jim.

It’s a great setup. I have it in my 140 with the permanently mounted Stratus for pad IN and pad AHRS. I won’t leave home without it.

Got my ESG from Jim, too, and his documentation and prices are wonderful. Working great, validation flight successful first time, and rebate received from FAA. Win-win-win-win.

In hindsight, I wish I had gone for the whole Stratus ESG/3i package with the ADSB receiver. I built a Pi3-based Stratux and it works great, but am getting a little sick of the extra wire, window mount, and battery requirements.

Glad you mentioned the point about using the stratux . I'm considering ESG and was planning on using the stratux. Now I'm reconsidering this decision..

i got my ESG up and running. I haven't yet figured out how I want to mount the 3i. Very pleased with the deal I got from Jim.

The ESG mounting tray is long enough and I have enough room top and bottom that I mounted the altitude encoder on the top of the tray and the 3i on the bottom of the tray. So far, so good.

Did you rivet a plate to the tray or screw to the tray itself? I can’t exactly remember what the structure of the tray looks like.

Do these help?

Hmm...looks like the ADS-B receiver is mounted backwards according to the "direction of flight" arrow. Or does this not matter?

It matters a great deal. That'll teach me to slap something together to take a quick photo without thinking.
