Hi -- pilot of Canada here. I was wondering if any TX pilots here could help me. I maintain a open-data site to update and distribute free airport data, and we have a problem report for 4TX2 (Stage Coach Hills Airport) near Keller, Texas:

https://airnav.com/airport/4TX2 (not my site)

Judging from fltplan.com, 4TX2 is still in the FAA database, and still appears on the sectional, but there's no runway there when I look at a satellite view, and North Texas Avionics left the field in 2015.

I'd be very grateful for any info from local pilots. If it's OK with everyone, I'll post occasional future queries about US airports here as well (but never a promotion of my own site).

Cheers, David

Still operational.

I see that airstrip every time I arrive into the North flow into DFW. It is very nice grass with tire marks on it, so I'm sure it has been used recently.

I wonder how long the community using the runway (the older community on the east side has the hangars) will get away with putting the traffic pattern over that new densely built community on the west.

Can a city or state in the US force a privately-owned airport to close (by rezoning, etc), or are airports federally-protected?

Land cannot be rezoned. Private airports have no federal protection. The are other actions that can be taken to encourage a private airport to close.
