I may be doing a dog transport coming in from the NE side (from west central Indiana), meeting a driver on the SW side of St.Louis. What’s a nice airport around the southwest side that might have a restaurant on field? Thinking the flight through/around the city would be cool.

I've gone into CPS when I've gone, which is most definitely not on the SW side of the city.

Alton has a restaurant, but is is on the NE side. Spirit (SUS) or Creve Coeur (1H0) are SW. Grab a crew car if you want to go for food.

Flying past downtown and the Arch is fun. The bluffs along the river north of town are nice from the air.

There are two airports southwest. Spirit of Saint Louis and Creve Coeur. Spirit is busy with lots of ga and biz jet traffic. Creve Coeur is all ga. Only Alton has a restaurant on field. And a good one at that.

flying around the city is easy. When you get close to Downtown airport give tower a call and ask for the arch tour.

FIFY

I learned to fly at CPS. On my very first dual flight, I glanced over at the Arch just after we lifted off, and my instructor said, "Don't even THINK about it!"

Thanks everyone. Sounds like KSUS might give us the sightseeing we’re looking for. Might just load up on snacks or sandwiches.

I’ll be on Flight Following KLAF-KSUS- to whom and when do we ask to fly by the Arch?

It's in CPS's airspace under the bravo shelf. @Radar Contact did the tour a few years ago iirc.

CPS gets you the downtown Arch tour, although you can ask for that anywhere in the bravo, don't have to land there. ALN has an excellent on field restaurant.

Been to SUS a couple of times in the past, and have driven past it more times than I want to think about since then. It's a mile or two away from several chain restaurants and a strip mall type area if you can get a crew car.

If you are already on with approach they will likely approve an arch tour without switching to CPS.
