Epic attains Type

Really like the Epic over an M600 or aTBM but for that price point, I’d go with an SF50.
 
Seven years for the FAA to issue a cert.
No wonder we are falling behind.

So they applied for the certification and it took the FAA seven years to issue it?

Or did it take Epic seven years to get the plane to meet whatever requirements needed for certification?

Good question. Seven years ago the company changed hands and the new owners *announced* that they would pursue a TC. That doesn't exactly sound like a bureaucratic roadblock outside of their control.

Well it is better looking than the TBM.

It's curvier, but not all that dissimilar.

I'm wondering, though, why they need nearly 50% more power to get a 5-10 knot speed edge on the TBM... And maybe not even that, since it can go 3000 feet higher.
