I would think that at this point, it’s value would be very close to that of a new one. It is a very desirable item, especially with January 1 looming.

I'm sure someone would quickly snap it up used for $2500 but would buy new once you cross into $4k territory. Does the warranty transfer or is it void once its removed and installed somewhere else?

You asked for a number so I would say $3500 or around the GTX335 price will seem like a deal to someone willing to take some risk (used unit) to get something with ADSB-IN and AHRS as well as the ADSB-OUT.

Worth a little now with some folks panic buying, though not new prices.

However with all the new lower priced avionics coming out, that price might take a tumble after something better and cheaper comes out, or after 2020 when people realize the sky isn’t falling.

I don’t see panic buying. I just see those who have decided to equip and those who are waiting.

Mint condition without internal GPS, likely $3500 or slightly better. Considering a new one is $5K plus tax for many. Given this particular 345 doesn’t require Garmin dealer install, you will get a premium. This is the gold standard of stand alone ADS-B.

$4K is not unrealistic. In my area they are selling for about ~$4700 plus 9.5% tax for a total of $5145 out the door.

I'd think a buyer who wanted to DIY the install with their A&P, rather than messing w/ an avionics shop, would pay a premium. I settled on a 335 for my Twin Bo because I didn't want to have to pay a shop to install the 345 and nobody would sell me one over the counter.

Yep. If I hadn't already done something, I'd be a buyer. I might anyway if the price is right. If you'd sell for $3,500 shoot me a PM

Wish this posted earlier. Doing an avionics upgrade on my 310Q now. I’m stuck with the new 345 I bought.

I’m guessing you’re going with the Linx 9000??

He's doing a remote transponder, that's why the GTX 345 is being removed. Just cleaning up the panel.

Assuming it's cosmetically perfect and working great, I'd bet it's worth very near the price of a new unit. With the last minute rush for ADS-B, more than one owner is going to be looking to buy one of these. New units have to be sold and installed by Garmin dealers if I remember correctly - and those guys are crazy busy right now. Your used GTX345 can be installed by anyone qualified.

Gotcha. Since he chose Avidyne, I figured he would’ve switched to the Lynx 9000.

My 345 was bought from and installed by a great avionics shop that is not a Garmin dealer. Did a wonderful job. A used one could be installed by anyone properly qualified, dealer or not.

The GTX-345 can be operated remotely same as the 345R.

I think he's going with the Avidyne remote transponder, and adding Avidynes active traffic system. It'll be a sweet setup! I'm looking forward to the pix of his new panel. I know he just got his plane back this week, but I haven't seen any pix yet.

Thanks guys this has been helpful and aligned with what I was thinking.

More importantly, why are you removing one Kevin? There really isn't a better transponder on the market.

I removed it during my Avidyne upgrades. I wanted a remote transponder for the IFD's and wanted to use their SkyTrax605a active traffic system. It'll give a more complete picture, cleaned up the panel nicely and all plays well together.

I agree with you in that the 345 (and possibly the Lynx 9000) is the best all in one box ADS-B option. I was just looking for a little more.

Depends. Does it have 310 Pilot's autograph on it? :D

Ha ha...that would probably devalue it. I'd have a much better chance if my wife signed it. :)

Not sure your autograph would devalue it....but I'm quite sure Jamie's would offer more "value added!" ;)
