How much do I REALLY need to fly a light twin (Baby Baron, Seneca, Seminole etc) to stay proficient enough to not die?

Trying to decide my next steps in flight training and this will determine the route I decide to go down. Whether I fly the local twin at 400/hr or I just ignore the possibility of renting and just knock it out in a weekend trip just to have the rating.
 
Do an IPC every six months with significant single engine work, and increase from there if necessary.

I flew a 414/425 for a living and about 300 hours a year. With a checkride every 6 months.

More than you can afford at $400/hr.
 
the honest truth is you never really are. every nine months when i go back to the sim my first v1 cut is bit of a wild ride.
I bet fewer people would die if they started doing practice V1 cuts just before the actual engine failures happened.

Or let you pick the one successful one out of three as the “real” one like an applicant wanted to do recently.

Well sure.... that is what the sim is for, to stop and start over if a maneuver doesn't go right the first time....:lol::lol:
 
Well, I have stopped a couple checkrides on a sim. Both times it was because of ineffective communications from the sim operator. Both times I had to stop the guy and have him explain what he was wanting because I was not understanding him. Once that problem was solved then everything went smoothly.

Yeah, the profile, ACS, and expectations aren’t really clear regarding multiple stick shaker activations between 200 & 500 feet.
