... should be legal and even encouraged.

It has been a very long time since I caught a contact buzz because I don't typically hang out with stoners anymore. If public toking was legal everywhere, I could easily get a high without actually toking myself.

I think it's almost criminal that people can't toke in public. I'd love to go out for a run and turn a corner and run into a gaggle of tokers and be forced to breathe that aromatic euphoria inducing cloud in.

Rave on.

Come to downtown Seattle. Contact highs are pretty common on city busses, sidewalks, and standing outside the emergency room door at the county hospital.

Fricken gross, smells like ****, not a fan, dope is legal in Massachusetts now too.

Had to Google this one. Not into this myself. Try @denverpilot . He is from "that" state. LOL

Hell my parents were flower children and high regularly and I figured out all they were doing was wasting time and money. Remember, mom still thinks John Denver was a super-pilot. LOL.

But dad made good cheeseburgers and fries when he was buzzed when I was a kid. So there’s that. If you want good junk food, find the stoners. They know where it is or will make some for ya.

Kinda like the advice to find the fat chef and eat at his restaurant. LOL.

There’s a number of “that” states now. The rest of y’all just need to catch up to the reality that there’s not much point in the multi billion dollar War On A Plant.

As for “contact highs”, outdoors with any breeze, good luck. Most of those stories are kinda like fish stories but they’re told by drunken teens and twenty somethings to impress someone. “Dooooooood. I was at Red Rocks once watching Phish and...” LOL.

Indoors in a cloud of it, probably
a different story. Even then, usually recounted later by people who were drunk.

Agree.

Smells like a skunk rolled in rotten cabbage. I get nausea even when I smell it on someone's clothes when they drag it into the bar or bowling alley.

Have to agree. It has a distinctly “musky” odor that’s instantly recognizable, but I’ve never truly been nauseated by it or anything like that... see pig farm note. Nowhere near that smell. Not even close.

I actually get more nauseous smelling actual barf than just about any other odor. Rotting flesh is up there, as is a really nasty poo.

OMG ... its not illegal ? wait... i think they just legalized it. no one thought of the children ...sigh

Toking and smoking. I would rather not smell either. On the other hand, I don't think they should be banned, at least not outdoors. Today, I moved upwind of someone at the bus stop who was smoking (tobacco).

This actually did make me start dry heaving once and almost throw up. The marina I worked at ages ago had a small little boat house thing for the staff with a porta potty on it.. I was there opening up for the day at 7 in the morning, and who ever closed up the night before really devastated the toilet and didn't even get most of their steamer into the bowl. The smell was vile.

My goodness. An adult adapted to circumstance. Is that allowed? Weren’t you supposed to be offended instead or something? Haha.

Most smokers who are polite also tend to forcibly move downwind of anyone nearby. Just for the record.

Except maybe the ones who look like they’re about to explode into a tirade about the evils of smoking. Hahahaha. Then it kinda depends on mood and desire for some quality entertainment. Hahahahaha.

Kidding mostly. I was going to say I can’t remember the last time I smoked around a non-smoker, but actually I did. A rare event. I asked them politely if I could and made sure no significant smoke was going their direction. They said they didn’t mind at all. But it’s been a long ass time before that.

There’s a “smoking area” at work that’s far too close to one of the doors but if anyone approaches I just walk around the side of the building into the drainage rocks and lovely weeds the landscapers plant there to make it look corporate. LOL.

Why companies plant tall lakeshore weeds in their drainage rocks, is still beyond me, but you see it everywhere. Quite odd. Then they pay people to come pull them and plant some more the next year.

People are weird.

That’s if you can smell it over the stench of poo...

And if you are in a prohibited profession - commercial driver / airline pilot / police / fire / whatever - and you pass through a cloud of that because you had your supper at the best steak house in the city and then report to work and get a surprise "pee in the cup", what then?

Has that ever really happened? I always just thought it was stories told by idiots who tested positive because they actually still intake the reefer. "Oh, just a little puff, I'll be alright. It'll be out of my system quick."

Yeah, someone did a bunch of studies on it, and it’s supposedly impossible to test positive on a drug test from second hand smoke unless you were hot boxing it and took the test immediately after. Even in the hot box situation the test went negative after about 10 minutes.

That said, I won’t attend a reggae festival right before work, just in case. ;)

Took a trip to Portland last year. Passed a pot store on the road that had a taco lunch trailer setup in the parking lot.

The guy that owns that taco trailer is probably living in a mansion now. Of course the guy that owns the pot store is probably living on an estate with several mansions.

Gotta tell you, when I'm on the bicycle, and I get a whiff of the herb coming from the car beside me, I get a little bit worried.

I too get worried, but probably not for the same reasons. I don't think wacky tobacky impairs your driving enough to make me worry, and drivers with cell phones are a much bigger threat to me on my bicycle. Instead, I worry that we live in a society where some (maybe even most) feel that EVERY ACTIVITY is better if you're on drugs.

No, it doesn't impair driving... If you're in a Sam Peckinpah movie. Sllloooowww mooooootion crash into the telephone pole next to the taco truck...

Oh, the humanity....

In the '70s, with the relatively weak weed they had then, probably true. With today's pot, I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone got a contact high indoors.

Van Halen concert, early 20s. A group of us went to Pine Knob to see them. None of used any drugs of any kind at the time and to my knowledge never have since. But we are completely surrounded by pot smokers. We are the hole in the donut. Concert is over we all get to the car and without rehearsal before getting in we all look and each other in unison and say "Taco Bell"

Van halen wasn't around the '20s...… Jk, but those shows were wild.

Ok so you were hungry, but were you high? I will admit I'm no expert, but I have a hard time believing someone could get enough 2nd hand exposure to pee dirty without being aware of being high.

I dunno. We all craved the same thing. It wasn't like it was "man I'm hungry lets get something" the TB was mentioned in unison, and this group, we never agreed on a place to go right off the bat. So I'm guessing inhaling second hand pot smoke for 2-3 hours probably had enough of an effect to consider us, whatever. My issue is, I may have been but I have such a high tolerance for anything and everything, it didn't affect me other than the munchies. I have to take double or triple the doses for OTC medicine to work. I can drink coffee/mtn dew/coke and go right to sleep. Prescription pain killers post surgery, if it says every 4-6 hours, it's worn off in 2. Same goes for alcohol. 4 long islands in 60-90 minutes, and I might start getting a buzz.

So I may have peed dirty even though I didn't feel any effects other than a craving for Taco Bell.

Coincidence and nothing more. If you were high enough to fail a test, you would've known it.

I can't imagine any reason related to intoxication that you would all have craved the same thing. AFAIK cannabis does not cause a craving specifically for Mexican junk food. ;)

Can't rule out that you would have peed dirty though - depending on the sensitivity of the test.

Thats not necessarily true. Different people have different tolerances and reactions or non reactions to different substances, which is why some people are incapacitated after 1 glass of wine and others aren't. According to all the charts I should fail a blood test based on alcohol consumption over a given time, but I feel absolutely no buzz. Same for prescription pain killers, which is why I don't like to take them.

Taco Bell could have been coincidence but it is impossible to make the statement that I would know when I know my body doesnt react the way it should compared to the middle of the bell curve on other known chemicals.

I respectfully have to disagree; it actually was proven. In the case of Chong vs. California, the correlation between cannabis ingestion and Taco Bell desirability was well documented. See graph below:

I’ve taken to just laying on the horn whenever next to cars texting while in motion. At a stop light, I could care less... but moving, I’m laying on it to bring your dumb ass back to reality.

“Thinking about a train whistle for the Subaru”... LOL

I always wanted to carry a few water balloons to chuck at em...

Always been cautious about addictive personalities - chemical, I mean, like tobacco, alcohol, recreational drugs. . .that "need" doesn't always spill into day-to-day living, I know; still, someone getting high/drunk once a month, might be on the way to a problem. Once a week? Probably already making additional poor decisions.

Do it at home, or in your back yard, then not my business. I shouldn't have to smell it in public - local jurisdictions can probably handle that like speeding tickets - a fine of a couple hundred bucks would probably deter it enough. Geez, go home to ingest your psychotropics. . .

Fair enough, I will revise my statement. If 99.999999999% of the population were high enough to pee dirty, they would know it, but you could well be in that 0.0000000001% group that wouldn't know it.

Well, I'm not 7/1000th of a person, and I know people with a higher tolerance than myself, so you may want to work on your math skills before declaring yourself a medical expert on human physiology and how chemicals affects everybody exactly the the same in every situation, as I think math is a prerequisite for being such an expert. Just because it affects YOU a certain way, doesn't mean it affects everyone the same way.

Not sure why you have such a hard on for trying to imply I am a liar lately.

This came through my feed this morning and I couldn’t decide whether to stick it here or the colonoscopy thread. LOL.

Wow you sure do like to read a lot into things. You said you didn't feel high but you speculate that you would have tested positive. But you weren't tested so have no way of knowing.

I think you wouldn't have tested positive without having at least some inkling that you were altered in some way. That it. Simple. Now I'm calling you a liar? No. I don't think you're a liar, I just think you're wrong. There's a difference. Try not to read more into it than that.

You're not required to agree with me. Lots of people don't agree with me. Most don't get upset about it, they just get over it and move on. But there again, perhaps you're different in that respect.

I don't believe I said I would have definitely tested positive. (What it was intended to say was) Based on my reaction - or non reaction - to alcohol and prescription and OTC drugs it's possible or maybe even probable that I could have tested positive and not felt the effects, just because of the tolerances I have to those. As that concert is the extent of my marijuana "usage" I don't know how much it would take to get me high and whether or not that would be enough trigger a positive. I do know for a fact that I would test positive for opiods and alcohol without the high or buzz that they bring to others, so I am assuming I would test positive before I feel any effects other than munchies based on the other tolerances I have.
