Work car good ol quarky. Says tire pressure low. Ok didn't say it but message came up on the dash.

Stopped at a tire place. Free air machine. Mmmm wonder how to do this? Went up to a mechanic and said can you help I don't know how it works. Walked over did it and walked away. I thanked him and drove away. Went back to the "office" Dave says you get air in the tires? Yep. Any problems? Nope I had the mechanic guy do it. Dave walks away saying you're so stupid you can't put air in your tires?! Then went on to announce what I did to other guys. They didn't care.

So was it brilliant or stupid to play the girl card?

Brilliant.

And Dave is probably operating on the false assumption that all air machines are the same. I've seen some that were a little more involved than a simple valved air hose.

Who normally checks your car's tire air pressure?

You weren't sure how the air compressor worked and asked for assistance = OK

If ( you_watched_and_learned_how_to_do_it_so_next_time_you_don't_need_assistance == TRUE )
then OK
else !OK

let Dave know -

he can put air in the tire, you can land on them at breakneck speed from the air and still keep the air in the tire.

he wont probably get this, proving who is dumb :d:d

I think a similar post on the local board so everybody knows about Dave’s quality of customer service would be appropriate.

Tell Dave to go get the tire fixed, since if it has happened before, the tire has a leak and he’s a cheap ass. Lol.

Thanks for the thread. I need to give my YF's car the once over before she drives from Silicon Valley to Yuba City for a family issue involving her uncle.

Depends on your priorities I suppose. You certainly didn't do those of your gender any favors in terms of the perception they have to put up with from many of the opposite gender.

Regardless of your gender, you really should know how to put air in a tire. Get some instruction next time instead of letting someone else do it for you.

Mars and Venus. There's no winning for us guys.

Years ago one of the headlamp bulbs on Mrs GRG55's Toyota burned out. She asked if I could help her change it. So I went to the local parts store and bought the correct bulb, got out my tools, dismantled the grill, pulled the headlamp assembly out, replaced the bulb, put it all back together and went into the house to tell her it was done. Geezus did I get an earful. She wanted me to help her change it, not do it for her. All I could muster in my defense was "If you learn how to do everything yourself then I become dispensable. Why would I want to let that happen?"

Heh - not enough years have gone by to forget this:

Her (voice from the laundry room): We are out of hangers.

Me: OK
.
.
.
.
Me (about an hour later after buying hangers at Target, stopping at the gas station, and stopping at the liquor store): Here you go.

Her: I meant, “We are out of hangers, get some from the closet.”
