G430's have the ability to have checklists in them. Do you have to manually install (type/scroll) them or can you upload them some how?

I find the checklist ops in the GNS430 a little laborious. The button twisting and pushing added too much time, exceeding my checklist patience. Same goes for any panel mounted avionics with a checklist I've tried.

Have you looked at the Checklist capability in ForeFlight or other iPad app as a device based solution?

I flew with a guy who had the checklist in a gizmo on the panel, I thought it was pretty cool. I have 480 and you have to manually put the checklist in, guessing the same for 430. I am too lazy to do anything though. I figured I am cool enough just being a pilot, no need to push buttons 50 times before I can take off

Does the 480 have enough memory for anything more than:
  1. Kick tires.
  2. Light fires.

Sometimes simple is better. Ive seen the foreflight checklist in action and it takes about 5 times longer than a paper checklist. As a regular 430 user, there is no way I would ever put the checklist in there (or in the MVP50.) It's OK but it's the equivalent of living in a subdivision and using google maps to determine how to get to your neighbors house.

Seems like a very clumsy way to do what a printed checklist can do.

I agree.... I love boxes and technology. But I absolutely cannot stand the eChecklist. Not only that, but in an emergency, I don’t want to be dashing though submenues to find info. Laminated checklist for me.

Not really a feature! Garmin should have left that out and included airways and random holds.

Can reduce that by 50% if you flew in the past 12-20 hours and just light fires;)
well .... i didnt want to draw FAA attention and POA criticism on my flying... but i was about to say that kicking tires is ol school and i almost always skip it.. i dont need stinking tires up there anyway
