What if you arrive before NOTAM?

We're arriving Thursday if weather between MD and AV works out. Since NOTAM isn't active yet, do we just fly a normal arrival to a Class D airport? Call a ways out and go where they tell us? Anything special we should be aware of?
 
You fly in just like you would to any towered field. You might still want to have the cockpit signs printed up to communicate with volunteers on the ground.
 
Yeah, we're stuck until clouds clear out over the mountains and ohio later today. Plane is loaded, but weather west of MD worsened overnight. :(
 
I would depart tomorrow but I can't stand that much down time sitting in a field.
 
We got some good rain and strong winds in my part of SE Wisconsin this morning. Still blowing pretty good. Half my town is out of power right now.

We did... But it was mostly in the vicinity of Milwaukee and to the south. I don't think Oshkosh got any of that rain.
 
Left MD about 1130 EDT arrived 1830 CDT. Lots of clouds to dodge until Ohio. Stop in Ohio, then slipped between two TS just north of Dayton. Then straight to Gary, bumped along shoreline, cut over to west then direct KOSH, left base on 27 5 miles out. Grass was dry and parked next to road in North 40.

There are some wet spots, but not bad. Kinda hot. Not close to filling up, though steady but not frantic stream of arrivals.
