Hi Everyone,

First time caller long time listener here. I was wondering if anyone had any information or experience with All2Fly at PDK here in Atlanta. I am still in the process of looking for a flight school anywhere in the Cobb County, Dekalb County area.

Thanks in Advanced!

I don't know, but their rates aren't too bad for a big city

It is a little concerning that they don't have any bios on their CFIs, it's not the school that gives you your training, or affects how long, or how much money it takes to get your ticket, or really the pilot you are going to become, thats the individual CFI. It's like going to get a big tattoo, if you're smart you don't seek out a shop, you're going to seek out the artist.

Thanks for the replay James. Yeah there rates aren’t bad and from what I have found the cheapest so far. I did find it a little concerning that they did not have any bios, as most of the flight school websites I have come across have a bio.

At leastgo talk to a couple of instructors. Do they enjoy doing it, or are they just flogging through to build hours toward airliners? If you don’t click with an instructor don’t be affraid to speak up and switch, or you can waste a lot of money quickly.

I am actually heading down there tomorrow to go chat with them. Thanks for the advice.

Keep in mind, least expensive isn't always what you want for flight instruction.

This article might help you with other things to review during your visit. https://www.aopa.org/training-and-safety/learn-to-fly/choosing-a-flight-school

Also look at the quantity and condition of the aircraft that will be used for training. A small fleet that is frequently in the shop, and a not well organized shop, is very likely to cause interruptions in training.

As I said I got no good leads for you there, but maybe someone here knows a freelance CFI?

Got my PPL here. No complaints. Working on IR now. I’d recommend Jeff or Kevin as instructors.

I actually started with them a few weeks ago and so far everything and everyone has been great. I’m about 5 hours into my PPL. I’m paired up with Aaron. Thanks for the info maybe we will run into each other.

Teddy:
Curious what is the outcome of the training. Would you recommend them?

I contacted them about getting a few hours in a complex plane they had and they wanted to have a pre meeting to discuss my training objectives before they’d talk about setting up a flight. They seemed a little odd for me at the time.

For a quality flight school I’d recommend advanced aviation. And if you want a great club I’d recommend the FlyLZU.com club (if LZU isn’t too far)

I did an introductory flight with Adv. Aviation and liked them. LZU/location is perfect for me. Any particular instructor (or any instructor to avoid)?

It’s been a few years since I flew with them. The instructors I flew with there have moved on.

I did my private with The Flight School of Gwinnett and had a great instructor, but the management and mx really seemed to be a little lacking. I think they have new owners now so it may be better (or worse).

I worked on my IR at advanced and had a good experience there. Then I found out about the https://flylzu.com/ club and joined it for a year before I ended up moving to Knoxville. I enjoyed the club the most as they have a few airplanes in T hangars, had some good instructors, and the best hourly rates in the area.

If you aren’t ready to commit to a club I’d keep going with advanced. If I remember correctly Bruce is the owner. I never flew with him but alway had positive interactions with him in the office.

You might try @write-stuff
He is a long time CFI from the area. He has on on-line ground school - I am not sure if he is still teaching out of a school or freelance. He likely knows all the flight schools in the area. If he is not teaching - he will likely know who to reach out to.

Good suggestion! He should be in the know especially at LZU.
