So my renewal for ForeFlight is up. I just got my IFR ticket and I plan I’m doing more flying. I had Basic Plus but I have a credit for some reason of about $95 so I can get the Performance Plus for just a few more dollars. Just curious if others in GA are using that version. The D-Atis seems like a nice feature. Some of the other items like 3D airports - not so sure. What say yee?

Pro Plus subscription here. Considered Performance Plus, but not enough bang for my buck there.

I recommend at least Pro Plus, if for no other reason than the georeferenced plates (taxi diagrams and approach plates). The added situational awareness is worth that level, IMO.

Anything more than performance plus is a waste for someone not getting paid to fly. Sure, it has some nifty features going full tilt, but not worth the extra loot.

ForeFlight IFR user for 8 years... what is performance plus?

Performance Plus? Or Pro Plus?

Pro plus is what I meant... performance plus is overkill big time for GA bugsmashers.
There are a few items in that highest tier I wouldn't mind having in Pro Plus. I don't need them now, but hope one day they'll drop down as new things are added to Performance Plus.

I agree. I just figured with the nearly $100 discount I might try some of the features but after taking a closer look I really can’t see much use for a regular GA pilots. Some nice bells and whistles but I’ll put $100 I to something else.

The airport 3D view and takeoff/landing info would be nice. But, just not quite worth the added expense to me. Instead, I use Google Earth ahead of time for the 3D view and just manually calculate the takeoff/landing performance for the aircraft I’m flying. (In most cases, I’ve done a “worst case” calc for the takeoff/landing, so as long as I’m within those parameters, I know I’m OK.)

Thanks for that chart!

Pro is exactly what I need... and IMHO, worth it.

Performance Plus has nothing I need that I can identify. Perfect packaging from my perspective.

Its been said already but i have pro pretty much just for the geo-referenced charts. Would say to just get basic for VFR only, and certainitly wouldnt say I NEED the geo-referenced charts for IFR, but wow are they useful. of course i am capable of flying an approach without them (otherwise i shouldnt be flying at all) but they are incredibly valuble for planning approaches, specifically procedure turn entries and for verifying location for stepdown fixes. 100% reccormend pro for an IFR pilot

Performance plus has the 3d view of airports, where you can see ahead of time what it will look like trying to find an airport not familiar to you. It looks cool. The take off performance looks nice to have, but there are free apps that will do the same for some airplanes. I'm wavering as to whether I'll spend the extra hundred bucks at next renewal.

There was just a review on this site about the 3D not looking nearly as nice as they thought it would be

What you're saying here is that the folks who spoke up about the feature, thought it was some what flat and lacked depth..... right?

(or does cerebral humor need to be provided later in the day after more caffeine has been consumed?)

I think the credit is just proration because you will be changing midstream during your one year subscription.

The offer I got to upgrade from pro to performance plus prorated my current subscription. It credited $131 towards the $299 price and also offered a 3 month extension so I’d get a total of 15 months instead of 12 for the $299.

I’ve been flipping back and forth about taking there offer. I reviewed all the features of both plans while preparing this response and just decided to upgrade.

I’ve been using google maps for the 3D review for years. Very few of the airports I fly into have D-Atis. What made the difference was the landing/takeoff distance calculator.

Yes I’ve been doing the calculations using the POH data since I started taking flying lessons. I did the same for weight and balance but the ForeFlight tool makes it so much easier I check weight and balance much more often. I expect the same thing to be true with the takeoff/landing distance calculator.

If I decide it wasn’t worth it after a year I’ll drop back to Pro.
