Millenial slang dictionary

Could be a Cali thing - “solid” and “do me a solid” has been around before Millenials.

Nothing millenial about doing someone a solid:

Urban Dictionary: Do me a solid
The phrase "do me a solid" means do me a favor. The term was first used in the Northeastern United States, particularly in urban environments, at least as early as the mid 1980's, long prior to the Seinfeld episode usage.

I’ve never heard anyone say ‘do me a solid’ — just the use of the word ‘solid’ as a confirmation of something.

ie.,
Friend: Hey I just got a new ski boat!
You: Solid dude!

I use "do me a solid" frequently. Idk where it came from but I grew up in CA.

Grew up in northern NY state, and “Do me a solid,” was around. Also, a simple “Solid,” as an affirmation of one’s approval to a voiced concept or visual demonstration has been around forever. I believe the Millennials are actually saying, “Salad,” because they’re terrified of not being considered as enlightened vegans who just discovered some new “life hack” that’s been around since before the pyramids, but is new to them.

Not a new term to me. I can't say I hear it daily, but it comes up.

LOL...love the "salad" thing. "Hey, Bra... hollerin' Birks... really housed that IPA.. now, do me a salad!" "Solid" has been around as long as I can remember, back to the 60s. Some of the millenial stuff I hear that I DON'T remember from earlier times..

1. "Housed" - to eat something very rapidly, as in, "She must have been starving.. she really housed those ribs."
2. "Boot" - to vomit. "Of course, after housing those ribs, she booted."
3. "Hollerin'" - to be very good.. sort of a new "awesome." Used frequently to describe excellent food. "Bummer she booted those hollerin' ribs."
4. "Killin'" - similar to "hollerin'" , and been around longer. "Her pops did a killin' job of cleanin' the throne after she booted those hollerin' ribs."
5. "Represent" - Sort of like "bringing it," as in, "Pops be ON in the janitorial department... REPRESENT!"
6. "Jelly" - jealous... because it's only two syllables and easier to say than "jealous," which is two syllables. Whatever. "U jelly you didn't get to house some hollerin' ribs?"
7. "Woke" - Holding a Politically Correct but factually incorrect viewpoint, and acting intellectually and morally superior to those who do not share your viewpoint. Wish this was funny, but it's not.
8. "Because ...." - Usage requires "because" to be followed by a noun, adjective, or adverb; articles are not allowed. Using it correctly would be too grammar. This entire thread is because millenials.
9. "Adulting" - Meeting your responsibilities, being productive, and caring for your family. This is now a negative term.. "My life sucks because adulting."
10. "AF" - a way of interjecting even more meaningless and unnecessary vulgarity into everyday conversation, without having to actually type it out and take responsibility for your vulgarity - "Booting those housed hollerin' ribs was nasty AF, but bae was chill and woke AF so she still quiche AF so swerve, Betty."

Because stupid.

1971, Cheech and Chong, a bit called "Wink Dinkerson:"

"Hello, all you groovy guys and gals .... far out and SOLID."

Had a friend in high school who said that line constantly.

"solid" predates millennial, I would blame the 90s gen-X crowd for that one

"Finding my bliss" is far more millennial.. for example

And us millennials are the ones who get blamed for sounding like a bunch of fools, when in reality it was the old geezers who started it!

:D

Us old geezers started the whole foolish and stoopid stuff, to be sure, but you Millennials have perfected it. ;) Now, get off my grass, unless you’re tying down for the night and taking off first thing tomorrow morning...

Being a fool is not limited to any specific generation... each generation finds its own ways to be foolish, and its own ways to sound foolish. Millennials are just better at it.. ;)

LOL... GMTA @Lachlan ... was typing this while you posted your last post.

Good Morning Tony Atlas?

I like the term "Righteous." As in "Dude, those are righteous wheels on your [ride, whip, wagon, scooter, machine, etc.]

Born and raised in California and a millennial by some standards. Never used the word solid and no one I know uses the word solid.

I wouldn’t give today’s geezers that much credit. It’s timeless. Today’s millennials aren’t going to get credited with inventing it 40 years from now either. And no you ain’t foolish. The only foolish thing is to think you invented it, what you invented is the norm, and anyone coming along later with something new is foolish.

Quit being so proud of being a Millennial!!!! :)

I first heard the term “do me a solid” in the late 1970s. And that was at a Purdue in Indiana. Neither a bastion of hipness. So, it must be older than that.

Wasn't the military I was in.

We have radios now..... a telegram and a rider with a satchel went out when we discovered how to use radio waves to talk over..o_O
