Can be quiting treatment "Cold Turkey Way" anti depressive medicine fell under definition substance abuse?

Are you asking from the general population point of view or FAA medical certification point of view?

The way the question is phrased, it is difficult to tell. It sorta reads as pot stirring opinion request versus "I currently take an SSRI and need to know how to proceed to obtain my medical".

It's not substance abuse. This is sort of like defining alcohol abuse as pouring it on the sidewalk rather than drinking it.

If you need the medication and you don't take it, you have other issues for the underlying (in this case psychiatric) illness. In fact, this is why the FAA is real reticent to approve medication-approved psychiatric conditions as they can't be sure you've taken your meds every day you are flying.

"as they can't be sure you've taken your meds every day you are flying"

Yup... Andreas Lubitz and Germanwings flight 9525

it's not the medication ... it is the diagnosis that led you to take the medication that is the FAA's concern

“Cold turkey-ing” the med could be viewed as choosing not to treat a medical condition the FAA has a lot of concern about. Plus depending on the med and dosage- it is not advisable anyway.

Original diagnose was "depression". I can prove it with papers from my former doctor :) I now doubt it was even - depression, more tired after some events in my life.

He never tested me deeper, and after 10 minutes talk, he gave me pack of medicine for free, without warning about dangers quitting it abruptly after month or two of use. AFAK they still do not write in prescriptions for AD medicine.

so ... you can be certified but will have some hoops to successfully jump through concerning your mental health.

Is it possible that she do initial consultation with @lbfjrmd or @bbchien where they can evaluate case how hopeless or hopefull is and then transfer all checks to my country under supervision of local FAA AME for the insurance reasons, to make it cheaper? Thanks
