It was no flap landings. Hadn’t done one in a long, long time so decided to do some on a Flight Review. When I caught up to the plane, luckily it hadn’t run off the end of the runway. What I found out is the big problem was I had become to use to the ‘sight picture’ of normal landings and didn’t adjust. Gotta look at the airspeed and pull that nose up to get where you need to be, even if it looks funny. I’ll be practicing them a little more often in the future. My attitude about ‘practice’ has improved. Unlike Allen.

Yeah. When someone said no flap landings in the other thread it hit me right away that I hadn’t done one in ages
 
Wait a minute, you're supposed to use flaps when you land????!? I've been doing it wrong all these years..
 
I think that 99% of my no-flap landings involved a slip.

I was doin a foot to the floor slip on final on the first one and still couldn’t get it down. Slipping is routine for me flaps or not. I use them for collision avoidance, like to get the cowl outta the way so I can see what’s in front of and below me.
 
Actually most of my no flap landings have not required a slip, not that I'm opposed to do one if I need to. But careful speed control on descent seems to work well.
That's exactly why I asked @Kenny Phillips the question. Other than training or practice - when I want to - none of my no-flap landings have required an altitude loss slip either. If my landing requires a slip for altitude loss, I've already gone to full flaps and found it to be not enough.
 
If I'm in a 172, I find that if I do a no-flaps landing I have to have the spoilers deployed, plus full reverse thrust on touchdown if I expect to not run off the runway.

In the Arrow, I just throw the gear switch and it's like the cable in the elevator broke.

Both, but I usually wanted to. I don't like to drag 'em in, so in windy conditions it may require a slip. For a good crosswind component, this is also a good setup for landing.
