looking for someone that would be interested in a partnership, or possibly I would buy a plane and someone could time build with me.

Airports that I would be interested in having a tie down at is KJVY it KLOU

I am in the early stages of training at KLOU, probably a bit too soon for me to be considered/considering a partnership in a plane. Possibly in the future though, depending on aircraft.

That’s awesome. I’m close to earning my PPL, I have been flying the Cessna 172M. I would probably try to get something along those lines that is IFR certified. Where have you been training

Cardinal Wings. I am only 20 hours in.

They have been great to work with. The online scheduling is fantastic. The planes are typical trainer aircraft, old 172M's but they get the job done.

That’s awesome. I have been flying some m models as well. Which instructor have you been flying with? Have you solo’d yet

Ethan is my instructor. I have not solo'd yet. Written exam is this weekend.

A few months ago I did a BFR with Ethan at Cardinal, he's great.
Tyrell, what are you thinking of buying?
I'm currently renting from LA and CWA. I'm looking at joining Throughbred Flying Club at JVY for better plane availability. LA and CWA are busy!

I’m thinking about a C172M or N. Possibly a Cherokee. I know that feeling, I’m tired of dealing with crazy schedules with FBOs. I’ve thought about joining a club, but I’m discouraged that it will be the same.

The schedule looks pretty nice at Thoroughbred, looks like their 172 and 182 sit in the hangar more hours than they fly. I went out there to look at the planes and sent in my application to join. Their cap is 10 people per plane.

I've flown both the Archer and the 172M. Both great planes.

I'm working on my IR now, I need XC time and I need hood time. So I'd be interested in some time building with you. I'd like to bring along a pilot on some XC flights so I can fly under the hood while they watch for traffic.

I would be interested in that! I will be working on my IR rating soon. I’m tore between buying a plane, going to ATP Flight school down the street from me, joining a club, or doing a little bit of time building on top of ATP

Now that is a dilemma of choices! Well if it helps and you don't make a decision too quickly, I'll be happy to give you my impressions once I'm in the club a few weeks. And since you're up for flying safety pilot with me, maybe we can plan a flight in their 172 once I'm checked out so you'll get to see their plane first hand.

Are you checked out at Cardinal or LA? I'm only checked out in the 172S at Cardinal. At LA I'm checkout out in both the S and the M models.

Yeah I have been re searching for awhile, months ago I was going to go to ATP from 3 hours to hero type thing. I couldn’t start the program due to the full commitment style training until about October of 2019. I went ahead started training for my PPL. Now I’m here deciding what’s next. I talked to the guy at the club over at JVY, super cool gentleman! Talked to me for an hour over the phone. I would be more then happy to join in on some time building. I fly a 1976 c172M over at honaker aviation.

Yes that sounds like James S. I spent about an hour with him at JVY looking at the planes and talking, great guy! Once I hear back from James on my membership application I'll give you a shout on here and see if we can find a time to fly.

Cheers

That will work with me. Feel free to PM me and swap numbers when it gets closer to go ahead and chat about.

I just took my first Instrument Flight lesson with Ethan at Cardinal Last week. Went well and scheduled a flight with him next week to get checked out in their Skyhawks to start dong some more training.

I own an older Cherokee 140 that's IFR cert. with recent ADS-B compliance, but without any newer GPS panel equipment, so if any of you local guys are interested in getting some right seat time as either a safety pilot or passenger just to get a feel for one, send me a message.

I'm out of a grass strip about an 1/2 hour east of KLOU in KY, but I work in Madison, IN, so my plane is often at KIMS Madison.

Hi Chris!

Are you talking about Willow Island?

I’ve flown with Ethan too, I just had 6097G out yesterday for a solo XC to FRH and KY8. I ended up hanging out with Ethan about an hour or so troubleshooting a problem with his Stratux.

If you’re interested, we could trade off flying safety pilot for each other. We’re both at the beginning of our instrument training so we could knock out a chunk of simulated instrument time like this.

Cheers,

Jeremy

Jeremy,

No, not Willow Island, Owen Air Park (0KY0) further to the East near Owenton, KY. Someone just asked me about going to Willow Island soon regarding a fly-in recently. I was just looking at it on a map for location, but never been there.

I've got another lesson next week. As I get up to speed with the flight lessons I'll try to get with you sometime with a PM. I need to get a few more posts in here as well.

Sounds good Chris! Hopefully we can help each other learn as we earn our IR.

He is ordering the new chip for his Stratux, I offered him my Sentry to use since I typically only fly with him anyways. LOL
Finished with the written, went flying Wed night just before the storms hit. The wind was too much for my comfort level. Hoping tomorrow mornings weather holds out.

Of all the Clubs I have looked at, Thoroughbred is at the top of my list from just the info available online. Also really convienient since I live in Floyds Knobs.

Hi Tony,
Thanks for joining in! Are you working on PPL or IR?
I had my checkout flight at Thoroughbred on Wednesday! The 172 flies great. Next week I'm working on getting a checkout in the 182.
Cheers,
Jeremy

I am working on my PPL currently.

Sweet! Have you solo'ed yet? Learning to fly was one the highlights of my life, so I get pretty excited about talking to anyone learning to fly. Whenever you have a tough lesson, don't hesitate to reach out here to me or anyone on POA for support.

Not yet. My CFI seems to be more confident in me than I am myself. I feel like I’m about 90% there he seems to think a little more. Soon.

My CFI surprised me the day I solo'ed. We did about 3 circuits through the pattern and he said, ok, full stop, you're going to taxi back to the ramp and let me out then you're going to solo. I argued with him that I wasn't ready, that I needed a few more trips around the pattern with him. He heard none of it, said he'd go to the tower and would jump on the radio if I needed him. Off I went scared ****less up until that point at which the wheels left the runway. As soon as I realized the plane was flying without my instructor there, I was fine.

Today I learned that POA censors curse words.

Hello thread people, recently graduated private pilot, May 2019, also thinking about co-ownership, would love to get a 182 or Dakota, maybe Cherokee 235... I trained out of LA, but those planes are pretty booked all the time. Also looking to begin more IFR training (safety pilot), looking at TBFC as well, seems like the best deal around other than being in Indiana, KLOU is more convenient for me :)

Congrats on the PPL!!!
I’ve been flying the 182 and the 172 at TFC. Love the 182! I just took it to Indy Exec last Saturday for a soccer tournament. Both have dual Garmin G5’s and a 430 WAAS.

I do like the G5s / 430W, do you know which transponder they have in the 182? The GTX 345 has bluetooth which you can pair with your ipad for adbs-b traffic and gps info.

Randomly, I talked to Louisville Pilots club (with a 182Q) and they require 100 hrs PIC time before you can use their 182, which seems a bit ridiculous, but he claims its due to their insurance policy limits.

Congrats on the PPL!!!
