SAT College Exam to Include Adversity Score

The best part is the students don't get to see if they are privileged or disadvantaged. It's only visible to the colleges. It's like some kind of backdoor affirmative action, lol.

I'm amused and disgusted, all at the same time.

You know that there will be aggressive coaching in how to improve your non-academic score and, ironically enough, the best coaching will be for big money. You'll have prospective students and their families paying big money to game a system that will present them to the colleges as underprivileged.

Next time I submit a college application, I'll mark the 'Native American' box since I'm sure I have some Cherokee in the bloodline somewhere, lol.

So, what prevents a prospective student from getting a PO Box in the bad part of town?

Tom

It'll drive up the value of mailboxes in crappy areas.

This whole thing smells like a scam to get students into college that have little chance of success but will take on lots of debt to try. Colleges on the other hand get $$$$$$$$$$$.

As if the loan debt bubble wasn't big enough already.

I am native American...I was born here in America. Got a piece of paper that proves it too.
In all serialness, most tribes consider being a member a cultural, not genetic, distinction.

Not for legal purposes they don't. If you aren't on the roles because your ancestors didn't get cataloged, you aren't of any consequence to them. However, that doesn't mean they won't let you participate with them, culturally, it's just that you will get no benefits from the tribes or any legal protection they could provide.

So it you contribute to the high crime rate at your high school, you get extra points towards college admissions. Oh yeah, that'll help.

Don't you know, it is always someone else's fault. There's no individual accountability anymore, not from parents nor their offspring..

don't want to try or run as fast as the person next to you, no problem just move your start line up

I’m handicapped by the fact that I’m old and fat. You can’t discriminate against those, so I want my start line at the finish line.

What if I identify as being handicapped?

Still cultural.

all hope was lost when they made it illegal to question someone’s physical gender if they identify as something else, even if you are trying to treat them medically.

Haha! This thread makes me think of the movie Grumpy Old Men.

"Back in my day, all you needed was money to go to college! And get off the Quad Lawn or I'll make you wear the beanie for another semester!"
