Well, the FAA certified Psychiatrists are big $$s and about $3,000 and that sounds above what is required.
When I engage a CADC on behalf of airman, the engagement always includes a specification of what has to be included in the evaluation. The evaluator can come to any conclusion he feels appropriate, but if it doesn't have the DSM 5 elements, it's a waste of time. I usually choose older CADCs who have an M.A- they usually recall DSM4. If they give you the DSM 5 review it will be of no use to FAA.
I also point out that recommendations by that professional (which they always include for the judge) carry no water at the agency.
