Garmin just dropped a bomb on the avionics market...

The GPS units are not GPS/Nav/Com units like the GTNs are, they're purely GPS. They seem very similar to the 650, but they're slightly shorter: The GTN 650 is 2.65" tall, while the GPS 175 and GNX 375 are 2.02" tall. Probably not coincidentally, that's pretty much the same size as the King KLN-89B...

The GNX 375 has an ADS-B In/Out transponder integrated in it as well. This might be a good upgrade path not only for those who still haven't made their decision, but those who later decide they want more than the GDL 82 or Skybeacon provides.

$4,995 for the GPS 175, $7,995 for the GNX 375. For reference, the GPS-only version of the GTN 650, the GTN 625, is $10,095 and the full GTN 650 Nav/Com/GPS is $11,995.

Will they talk with anything else besides other Garmin products and anyone else who paid them off?

The G3X will be dealer install only unlike the G5s.

The GPS 175 will be sold over the counter with STC but the CNX 375 will be dealer install only.

The certified G3X touch appears to start about $6K cheaper than the G500 TXi. It's only for singles, but part of that is probably to keep the G500 TXi relevant and selling at least some units. I can't find any real difference in functionality yet.

They're also showing a combo package with one 10" and one 7" display that is significantly discounted - Less than the price of a single 10" G500 TXi.

I'm glad I didn't wait any longer on my GTN, the prices keep going up.

GPS 175 and CNX 375 come with built-in wireless connectivity, appears that flight plan transfer come with it (using supported EFB).

You must buy a FS510 to get database concierge.

Yep, I read that exactly the same way.

Database Concierge is awfully nice, tho... Worth the $$ IMO!

I'm curious if the G5 HSI to GNX 375 or GPS 175 will required the ARINC 429 converter [GAD29(B)] like the GTN/GNS/CNX do.

Interesting... I looked up the dimensions of the King KLN series, but it appears the Apollo GX series is also the same size as Garmin's new gear.

Yep, and I bet it's a simple install too, as long as you have RG400 already installed. Sold over the counter with STC. I take back all the nasty stuff I said about Garmin when they announced killing the GX database. This is a fair trade. I flew some practice approaches with the GX yesterday and though great in its day, it's day is done.

Best thing is I can keep my rock-solid SL 30's. I wonde if it will share freq data with them like the GX does. The GNC series doesn't.

Needs a decent $$$ optional standby battery like the G5s have

GPS 175 def got the pricing right. Its what a 400 W used to go for in the used market, until today that is. Frankly the gtn 625 should have always been priced at what theyre pricing the 175 at, but that's water under the bridge now. The 175 has def got my attention if I ever have to install, or upgrade to, waas gps in my next airplane.

Agh. I had to do it. I had to go look at the price of the Experimental version of the G3X Touch, even though seeing the price of the experimental autopilot a couple years ago made my blood boil.

While the certified 10" display is $9,995, the experimental one is just $3,895.:mad::mad: (<-- Those are for the FAA, not Garmin...)

I doubt those are exactly the same parts in the kit, so probably an apples/oranges comparison.

I need to get more info on Nav/GPS source switching for KI 525A, sl30 and 175, annunciator requirements etc. but this is looking berry, berry good to me.

I had already signed up for tomorrow's webinar, and I do have some questions which I'll list below.

Anyone else have any questions you want me to submit? I'll keep this post edited to have the full list:

1) What differences in capability are there between the G3X Touch and the G500 TXi?
2) With the 10" + 7" package installed, is it possible to switch the 7" display between PFD/MFD and EIS, or is it limited to being one or the other?
3) Are there any options for battery backup?
4) What are the possible options for display backup (ie, can G5 function as a backup AI in this configuration?) EDIT: Yes, it can, found that in the press release.
5) Does the G3X Touch support multiple nav sources?
6) Does adding a FlightStream 510 to the GNX 375 or GPS 175 add anything other than Database Concierge?
7) Can a GMA 350c do any voice control of the G3X Touch?
8) With multiple G3X displays/G5s, do things like altimeter setting automatically flow between them?
9) Is the dual screen 10+7 configuration listed at $14,865 on the web site single or dual AHRS? Any reversionary mode?
10) Do the GNX 375 and GPS 175 support flight plan crossfill with GTN and GNS series navigators?

Let me know if you have any to add.

Will the 375 feed attitude to a 660 without an FS510? Is DB concierge the only thing you gain from Flight Stream or is there anything else that won't crossfeed without FS?

I wonder if a dual 7” setup could perform instrument backup duties....or if you require a G5 or something similar.

Already contacted my favorite avionics shop and got on the schedule for May 2020 for the 175----that's right, next year. They're swamped with ADSB for most of the year, and I can only fly over there May - Sept (over the mountains). Since I already have the 335, unless they can give me a really good deal on the 375 and buy back my used 335, I don't see any reason to go that route.

Not sure I want my A&P practicing installing the 175 until they've done a few of them. Installing the G5 this summer at annual because he's done about a dozen of them so far.

Does Touch work with GDL88, FS210, (add other existing boxes)?
Does it use their Ethernet interface?

Added a question for whether that config is single or dual AHRS.

Oddly enough, those boxes are not listed on their site under "interfaces". But I think the FS210's functionality is already built in. If you already have a 210 hooked to a 430, I would think they'd work together still. I know that there are some other contradictions on their site though.

How soon if you don't have to fly over the mountains?

I just plopped down a deposit to upgrade my avionics. The GPS units don't impact me, since I want a Nav/Com/GPS, but the G3X is interesting, although I'm hoping to see the Skyview maybe come to fruition for my model aircraft very soon. Either way, it's nice to have some choices at least.

Do you have a link to the webinar?

Well, guess the GPS400W I just put in a month ago for $4450 is now worth much less.. Looks like a nice unit.

Love, love, love my G3X Touch. This is a great development for you guys in the standard category.

can you elaborate please? like, all the good bad and ugly? any video of it in action? thanks!
