Grega GN-1 Plans

Hello Gentlemen, I am looking for a set of GN-1 plans. As I understand, Mr. Grega has passed and no one is selling his plans anymore. Does anyone out there have a set that they would like to sell? Thank you in advance, Joser.

Contact the EAA and get active on any message boards they have? The red board could be of use here, too.

personally I'd just get a set of pietenpol aircapmer plans. No need to reinforce the structure of an already strong plane, making it heavier and reducing useful load, and also creating a more tail heavy plane.

That's just my 2 cents. You could also use Douglas Fir which is a bit stronger (and heavier) than sitka spruce to add a bit of strength.

Hi Rubberchicken, my concern was the fact that im 6'2" tall 240#, isn't the Grega a bit bigger to accomodate frames my size? Let me know because if the regular Piet can be modified to accomodate my legs, I would do that. Thank you, Joser.

I am building a piet wide bodyat the moment and you can widen the fuse by 3 inches with out much trouble that gives you some serious width.

If youre serious about going GN1 I suggest you join the matronics Pietenpol message board. I seem to remember some of the GN1 plans were being sought and a source emerged.

is the link to the page select the sign up and you can get your request to the people in the know of such things. Great bunch of builders ready and willing to share build information. I am in contact with the board daily and have been invloved for almost 2 years. If theres an answer to be had about the Piet or the Grega one of those guys will have it.

If youre interested here is a link to my Blog

Oh ya one thing to remember its your airplane and you can build it any way you want so its guarnteed to fit you. Just as long as you build it for you.

I know one builder in Oklahoma who is at least as tall as you and he fits and I weigh more than you so for what its worth. You make the choice

One key factor, build it like your life depends on it, avoid short cuts and foolish decisions. All the rest is sticks and glue.

If you widen the frame in the back (Pilot) section to 22 3/4" inside to inside on the top longerons, then forget cutting the plans version for your feet holes until you sit in it. That will give you more than enough room for your lower half. Your instrument section should be 8" above the sides (Longerons) Then don't worry about the front cockpit until you determine where your feet will be comfortable, You can use the suggested rudder bar or be smart and put in pedals for yourself. This will greatly improve the plane and make it tailor made for you and really spacious for smaller guys. I would also suggest you cane the pilot seat and leave the back of it solid plywood. This will allow you to fly longer and stay comfortable. Do this and you will keep the plane forever. Let me know after you do it how well you like it.Trust me I am a little bigger than you and this is perfect and as comfortable as an airplane will get for you, any airplane unless you get a Zenith CH 750 and sit in the middle and put one foot on the outside pedals on both sides Lol but I doubt that will even be as comfortable as your Pietenpol.

It's been almost 11 years. I wonder if John finished his plane.

@SkyDog58 - What's the record for the oldest Necro? 11 yrs sounds pretty good.

But I did enjoy the Necro that got locked on the day of revival. That should be a candidate for Necro of the year.

I don't know but 11 years is pretty good.

I must have missed that one.
