my 16-year-old daughter is making her first airline trip by herself. Naturally, her originating flight was delayed, so she missed her connection and got stranded in Minneapolis.

Fortunately I was able to get a phone number for an old family friend whose response was, "text me her phone number, I'll leave in a couple of minutes to pick her up."

I'm going against my nature to say this, but it's good to have friends.:)

If you’re gonna travel, you just gotta roll with the punches. I know it’s frustrating, I wouldn’t be happy about my daughter having to go through this either but nothing you can do about it.
It is good to have friends, particularly in strategic locations.

I've often wondered if we should organize a no fly day and no one few the airlines for a couple days.
What effect that would have?

Yeah, I know...and she’s decided it’s an adventure, just like I did when I was her age and the same thing happened to me.

But she IS my little girl, and it’s almost scary how the Papa Bear instinct kicks in. ;)

Reminds me of when people would say, don't buy gas on Tuesday, that will teach those evil oil companies! Well, that means everyone buys gas on Monday or Wednesday. Not gonna move the needle.

What effect would you expect? Weather and mechanicals are the usual culprits for delays and cancellations, and even the best operators can't avoid them entirely. Its just part of the business.
