Today I missed the centerline closer.

Northern Arizona had a record snowfall this past week, so naturally we had to fly up to Sedona to take a look. KSEZ had not yet re-opened as of the time these photos were taken.

Beautiful! But why'd the airport close? Pavement looks perfectly clear, which is pretty much what I'd expect from black asphalt in AZ - Snow's not going to stick to it the way it does to cooler surfaces.

KSEZ was one of my favorite flights. Gorgeous. I'm sure those photos you took don't do it justice. The contrast between the red rocks and white snow is striking.

The only part that sucked was the turb for 40 mins before landing. Lol

There was plenty of snow to cover everything. Sedona had 18 inches of snow from last week's storm; Payson had 28 inches, and Flagstaff Airport had a record 40 inches. The Sedona airport had been plowed but from the air the ramps and taxiways still looked icy. The current NOTAM says KSEZ is still closed until noon today, and nearby Payson Airport (KPAN) is closed until tomorrow afternoon. At KFLG all runway and taxiway lights are obscured and the ILS is out of service.

Loved the Tsi. Trying to figure out how to keep this plane while I build that one. :)

I recently joined up with a group called Flights for Life, volunteer pilots who fly shipments of blood and platelets between the Phoenix area and outlying communities in Arizona. The shipments are under the auspices of Vitalant, a non-profit organization that collects blood from volunteer donors and provides blood, blood products and services to nearly 700 hospitals in 22 states across the United States. By coincidence, Vitalant's Manager of Communications and Marketing is a neighbor in our condo building. He had never ridden along on a Flights for Life trip, so we corrected that yesterday on a mission to Yuma. It's not the most scenic of FFL's routes, but he really enjoyed the trip.
