Kelsey Berreth

Got to wonder about the new girlfriend who didn't turn around and walked away when her boyfriend turned out to be a psychopath.

What's to say she was all there, too?

She also may have realized what a bad spot she'd gotten into, but he may have strung her along bit by bit. Common tactics include isolating someone from their friends and family, getting them to become financially dependent, etc.

It happens.

Well, I mean the dude was with the girl long enough to have a kid and get engaged. I find it hard to believe that someone thinks, "I need to meet a nice girl that I can start a family with and then kill her" and has planned to kill her from the beginning. What tripped the breaker?
To people like this, significant others and often the kids as well are just possessions, use them until bored and then dispose.

Sociopaths and psychopaths can be quite charming and disarming. Think Jim Jones.

Or Dennis Rader, AKA BTK. Just watched a two-hour program on him. His wife and daughter had no clue whatsoever.

Kelsey Berreth's was a particularly inhumane murder. She cooperated in a "game" by allowing herself to be blindfolded. No clue there, either.

Sociopaths can apparently be very charming and persuasive. Many people have gone to an early grave by trusting and believing in someone. Given the right circumstances, I think we all can be vulnerable in that area. No one is immune. Some do tend to be more vulnerable than others, for sure.

In her case, I don't know if there was any handwriting on the wall, if she went along out of fear, or if she trusted him implicitly. Just don't know. Sad all the way around.

Irrational and evil are not the same thing.

I wasn't referring to the murderer in this situation as rational or irrational. I was saying it is not rational for a sane person to try to look at an insane/evil/however you want to describe that person using the same lens that we look at other sane people. Their minds just don't work the same.

Sure, there is charming and persuasive, but right at
'hey, can you do me a favor? Pick up some bread on the way home and murder my Ex' ,

you would think that someone realized they are dating a psycho. If I remember correctly, the girlfriend lived in Idaho and not under his immediate influence.

I think they’re a lot more similar than we want to think. We still look for motive, even in murderers. I think it will be fairly easy to find what motivated this guy. Hatred, greed, selfishness, or all three. People like him often reason the same, they just have distorted boundaries and corrupted morals.

The more difficult question is what wrong with the GF that stays with a guy who’s murdering his fiancée? Doesn’t she realize that she’s taking her place? How desperate is she, sheesh.

Yeah, go watch the series ‘Dirty John’ on Netflix(or Prime?). One needs to take precautions, then opt out if vibes get tingly.

I think it was about money. She wanted child support, and he didn’t want to pay any, and then got very angry when they could not come to terms. That’s when psychopath mode switched on.

I don’t think he needs to be concerned about paying child support any more. He’s gonna be paying for a lot more than that pretty soon, though...

I thought I recalled that he had primary custody, and was trying to get full custody. If my recollection is correct, he wouldn't be paying child support but she might.

There's still lots of missing facts and stuff that doesn't make sense. Like why did her mom wait 10 days to notice she was missing.

Come on, don't be so judgmental! Not everyone who asks their mistress to bash their wife's head in with a baseball bat is a psychopath!
