Piaggio Avanti

This aircraft is really LOUD! I live under the approachpath of the 'General aviation' runway op Schiphol (Amsterdam)... when these arrive you can hear them approaching from FAR! From my house they are louder then all other private jets, even the newer 737s that fly overhead now and then.

At Yuma the other day, this little fellow (birdius high-ballius) posed momentarily on the ramp in front of my airplane — then stuck his tongue out at me, said “meep-meep,” and took off in a cloud of dust.

He was followed close behind by a scruffy-looking coyote (famishius vulgaris ingeniusi) with a JATO pack tied to his back. This was found discarded by the side of the taxiway ...

I repositioned the Zodiac from Oakland (OAK) to its new home at Sonoma County Airport (STS) in Santa Rosa when there was a break in the rain, and took this photo of San Francisco and the Bay Bridge from over the Bay Bridge toll plaza looking west. Alcatraz and the Golden Gate are on the right.

On my second cross country I got to visit Venice (VNC) and its beautiful coastline.

Love Venice. My wife's GM has a condo on the beach there and we go down a couple of times a year.

any easy to get to restaurants near VNC?

One right on the field, http://www.suncoastcafe.com. Great food. I always eat there a few times when I'm down. They have a great Cuban, great breakfast. We're going down in May. If you're down I'll buy you a meal if you give me a ride in your 'Bonanza'. :D

Then you have Sharky's on the Pier. Kinda pricey but they will pick you up. You could walk there also.

sharky's is the one I was thinking of. I'm not in FLA now but my parents live in boynton beach. the first flight I took them on was to X01 and we ate at the Havana café, I HIGHLY recommend that trip. we'll try naples one of these times.

The approach to Venice coming in over the gulf is awesome.

Snow level down to 2000 ft! Even our "foothills" got some of the white powdery stuff. Went up for 0.7... virga and dark clouds to the west but some clear air to the east. Typical post-storm bumpy air, but great visibility. Gotta tape up the oil cooler to get a decent oil temp!

Rainfall has been nuts in SoCal...not even March yet and we're past our average annual rainfall number.

I think I made the last move of my plane today. A week or so ago I was in need of some fuel and stopped by at Carroll County TN (KHZD) airport for some $3.85LL. Old airport bum hanging out after hours helps me out at the pump, then we BS some inside. I see on their board they have hangars at $75/mth. I asked about them and he said yea, but our new, 2 yr old ones are $120. LED lighting, bifold door etc...... Called them next day and I scored. Was paying $100/mth for an old leaking T-hangar elsewhere, that were soon to become their seasonal starling nest

Score!
Congratulations. Nice digs.
Can't get a hanger in my area for less than $380.00 a month.

So did you get the 75 dollar or the 120 dollar hangar.??:lol:
I upgraded and gave up beer for the $120

Wow... That's a steal! How far do you have to drive to get to the plane now?

Lol. Same distance but southwest 1/hr 20 mins McKenzie TN. Closest airport 20 minutes has a political board passing out old hangars for $300/mth. It would be on the ramp for the elements. A hangar is that important for me

Yepp - our home airport. There is a flight school at Mettetal - those students usually don‘t have any issues with short runways and cross winds...:crazy::lol:

I just Googled your airport to see if it is close enough to visit, and the first link is a web site dedicated to shut down the airport to "protect our children from lead poisoning."

How do these nutjobs think 100LL is going to somehow find its way into their precious babies' bloodstream? Aircraft exhaust?
