Alton Bay, that's not going to buff out....

I read somewhere they landed fast with a tailwind. Winds apparently tricky that day. Glad I didn’t go up! Was a good day from where I’m at to make the journey.

I was leaning towards going that very day, but thought it was going to be a 12 mph crosswind so didn’t go.

So now what... is there a place they tow that out of there?? Where does it go? Can’t just flatbed it right?? Going to have to take wings off. It’s a whole project now. probably not going to get to their plane for months!!

Hopefully it's the insurance company's problem, probably tow it up to the nearby parking lot and pull it apart there. I think it's going to warm up around here in the next few days.

I just had a friend tell me about this ice runway last weekend. Thought this kind of stuff was reserved for pro Bush pilots only but apparently lots and lots of people fly in and land here. Looks like an exciting mission but also doesnt seem very forgiving. Friend of mine told me you cant use your brakes to slow down at all.

Temporary repairs, fly it out.

I tend to remember a bunch of years ago they towed a plane from B18 over the ice to a marina near Laconia airport then a short flatbed trip to the airport.

For light GA aircraft you shouldn’t be using your brakes that much regardless.

Also from the folks at Alton

I’ve done Alton Bay several times, you have to be on your game, and pay attention to the winds, the snow banks can be very unforgiving.

News clip from WMUR shows it in the parking lot with cones around it.

I’d just push it out to the middle of the ice and wait for the spring thaw.
