What should this sell for?

183675557207

What would be the highest you go?

With out engine ?
What would it sell for when in flying condition?
Is there enough price increase, to off set going and getting it, then building an engine for it?

Not sure I’d want to be in it for more than 7k ish, if it REALLY JUST needs a engine and prop, also why does it no longer have a engine or prop??

Most important question what would it sell for ? (flying)

Depends, why is it all taken apart?

If it’s 100% clean, buff the paint, clean up the seats, no crazy history, with a low ish time engine, I’d off the cuff say low 20s, probably list it for 24.9, sell for 22-23

Well, That's a problem, a 0-200 costs $18-20 to build, then there is transport costs. = no profit.

but this one is set up for a 0-320 no clew what they costs.

So you need a bit north of 30 for it....

I’m not huge in that market, but I’d think folks would expect a bitchin paintjob, cool upholstery, glass panel /G and some other goodies for that price tag

Maybe someone like @Velocity would know better

What about something with like 500 TSMO?

Even core 0-320 engines are $10k on e-bay

So you’d need to get it for more like 5k and even then what your time worth, if that’s the case I’d say 5-6k if you’re building it for yourself, if it’s to make a buck, meh

That's kinda of where I am.
Some times it takes another's perspective :). thanks.

The LongEZ, if I recall, was designed for the O235 or smaller/lighter engine. Installing an O320 would likely make it tail heavy and more likely to have a prop strike with an aft CG.

Without knowing condition, it is impossible to say what it is worth.

They are now putting 0-360- 180 horse in them.

I think the original VariEze was designed for the O-200 and bare bones systems.
Rutan got tired of people asking about O-320, more fuel etc so we got the LongEze. Burt also never intended that people would get OCD about filling pin holes

I had hangar at KOLM last summer and right across from me were two guys with LongEzes in one hangar. They are perfect specimens that both pilots admitted they're too old to fly (buddies who built their planes in the 90s).

One has an O-235, every speed mod and surfaces that would shame most gliders. He smiled and said his would pull away from the other (O-320 powered) plane in cruise.

I offered to be their medical carrying "PIC" but they didn't take me up on it. If I had a hankering for a canard I would be trying to get one of those guys to adopt me.

Highest I’d go would maybe be $10K. That’s even if there’s no issues like surface delam. By the time you put an engine on with accessories you’d be looking at mid 30s all in. A used completed Long with a O-320 basic VFR panel will go for the mid 30s. Nice ones (IFR) in the high 40s lower 50s.

Nothing wrong with the O-320. Rutan didn’t like guys putting the 0-320 in because he designed it around the O-235. It’s a difference of 135 kts cruise vs 170 kt cruise so for some, the extra fuel burn was worth it. You need a significant amount of ballast in the nose though.

It has a buy it now price of 13k and the bid is stalled at 7200
It was a thought, but it's simply not a project I'd want right now.
There is a 0-320 on Barnstomers that would make the numbers work, but bring it all together who knows the added expense.

Not many examples here, but you really thing a basic one would SELL for 35k?
