Who's more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows her?

As a software developer, this always made me wonder. Computer systems are set up to only allow characters for names, not symbols. I can only imagine what I'd do if my boss came to me and said:

Boss: "You have to rewrite the system, and all integrations, to allow symbols for a person's name."
Me: "I quit"

Lol if that worries, you, then don't read this whatever you do:

Falsehoods Programmers Believe About Names

Live, and let live. I don't like a whole lot of things that a whole lot of people do every day, but here's the best part: I don't care if they do or don't do things I don't like or not. (Think about it.)

I don't care if they do them. I do reserve the right to judge. ;)

See, I think something like this is a turn-off:

I mean, as art it's pretty cool. But, the thing with tattoos is that they're forever. Looking at the same one would get old after a while. It would be like wearing the same clothes every single day, forever.

Now this one, on the other hand:

:D

If there's gonna be ink, I'd rather it be artistic, subtle, easily hidden. Bonus points for meaningful.

As for Ms. Grande, well, she's a pop star. She's got more money than I'll ever have, and she's successful and very talented. I still won't buy her albums, but I do greatly enjoy it when she's on the Tonight Show. They almost always play the game where she has to sing a particular song in a different style to a different tune, and I'm always impressed at how well she does it. And she doesn't act like a Kardashian. So, I don't really care if she has a BBQ tattoo. I like BBQ.

What Kent said.

A young intern at a construction company I recently worked with had one tattoo...just one. Very small letters on his shoulder blade.

"what's done is done"

I laughed my ass off when he showed it to me.

Oh boy!!

Another "100 hour wonder...." thread where we can look down our noses at others.

To paraphrase @EdFred...

...I thought we expunged all the "sandy vaginas" a couple of years ago when @SixPapaCharlie determined that he couldn't fly GA to a Prince concert.

Here gentlemen, flush it out!

I've learned I can only make comments about certain dead people here:
Comedian dies, Fair game : https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/com...would-not-be-a-good-pilot.91305/#post-2042970
Singer Dies, I am an *******.

Fortunately, I've given up on caring how sensitive people on the internet are.

Nailed it with the giant "ear plug"

So this is an actual conversation that I had with my boss last night over how he talked his daughter out of getting a tattoo:

Dad: "Before you get that tattoo, I want you go look at all the Craigslist ads for escort request. What you will find, is that nearly ever ad specifically states, 'NO TATTOOS!'"

Daughter: "But I don't want to be an escort."

Dad: "Right, but, what does that tell you?"

Answer: Men do NOT want tattoos on their women.

I guess there are some exceptions. It's pretty much a deal killer for me. Okay it's not necessarily a deal killer but you're either going to give me a serious discount or cut me a whole hell of a lot of slack that you wouldn't otherwise.

Here's the other thing: women don't want to wear the same dress twice. Why would they want to "decorate" themselves permanently.

Especially if they get a tattoo identical to one another woman is wearing.

True story - the old Vietnamese written language used Chinese characters prior to the modern version developed by the French. The character set is the same but the meanings are entirely different. There is a popular Chinese character tattoo women like to get that means 'peace and harmony' in Chinese. But, in Vietnamese, it means 'dirty whore.' I know of at least one Aussie girl that had to cover hers up in Vietnam or she gets a lot of sneers from the older people that understand the old written language.

Plus, the butterfly tramp stamp at age 18 is going to look like Bill the Cat by age 52.

On the other side of the tattoo, I have a burn on my right forearm. It has faded over the years, but it was still pretty noticeable at the time.

I was in a bank in Costa Rica and the armed guards were with me, I mean one on each side. One holding a Mossberg 12 gauge and the other holding what appeared to be a Glock 18. I am not sure since I have never held a Glock 18 in my hand, only pictures. But the 10 clips holding 20 rounds each on his chest was pretty obvious. I was very intimidated. A little fearful actually.

The procedure was to knock on the door. A guard opens the little observation door and looks at the person and the surrounding area. He unlocks the heavy door to let the person in. Another guard asked me in Spanish what was my business. In my very broken Spanish I answered to exchange money. He then asked me the same question in English and I was able to get my business explanation to him.

He opened another locked door, and gestured me to follow him to the teller. The teller was in a secure cubicle, and the guard explained to the teller what I wanted. At that point my two armed friends stood next to me.

We did our money exchange, and I was led back to the doors and let out.

I later found out that gang members were burning off their tattoos so they would not be easily recognized. So I guess the guards were not going to take any chances with me. As I said, I was very intimidated with having two armed guards with guns in hand ready to do business....

You can keep your Glock in a clock.

That's a Shakespeare quote. What am I missing ?

I don’t have a tattoo. Don’t plan on it. But if I DID get a tattoo, I sure wouldn’t get one in a language both I and the Tattoo artist don’t read or speak. I’ve never understood this kind of “it’s cool because it is Japanese/Chinese/Vietnamese/whatever” and just naive belief that it says what they tell you it says.

Though I would be tempted to get a “no regerts” as that would give you the chance to show you meant it :)

When I was in my early 20s I almost got a tattoo of a Confederate battle flag on my shoulder and on my forearm I wanted 2 lightning bolts....

Thank goodness they didn't put tattoos on drunken fools back then.

The only way I can understand the foreign language tats is if you truly appreciate the beauty in the symbol/appearance of a (for example) Chinese character. Doing it just because you think it says "Honor" or whatever seems pretty ridiculous, especially when it probably says "Soup"!

I don't have any tattoos but at one time, I thought about getting that Chinese character that looks like a upside down house with a goat in it, but I found out it meant: "She whose bosoms defy gravity."
