It's not a particularly expensive property (nor are any of the average properties in the airpark or nearby town), so I doubt that the fees and taxes are much of an issue (says the guy who pays $600/month in taxes on his modest house in Ohio.)

I live in Minnesota, the "Land of 10,000 Taxes" so I can relate. I've just never looked into the on-going care and feeding of an airport property.
 
Don't quote me, but.................HOA dues $575/year with a $75 surcharge for the next 7 years for the swimming pool. Taxes are $2400 about.

The airport has a voluntary $200/year, that virtually all pay.

There are pilot volunteer days where they work on the airport. Mostly 2 hours 4 times a year.

Because Grant County owns the Priest Rapids and Wanapum Dams, they are required to spend money on the locals. The power rates are the lowest in the USA and the WiFi speeds are the highest, due to fiber optics.

Grant County also has installed numerous boat launches into the Columbia River. They are high tech, calm in the wind. That's a 1959 Glasspar G3!

Probably Port Ludlow. Then I keep the mighty Cherokee at Port Townsend, for convenience.

But, maybe this place will never sell!!
 
Good luck on the sale. I've always liked that part of WA. I bet there is a lot of GA traffic in your area.

SeaTac is the only class B airport I have flown out of in my Sport. Overnighted there going from Chicago to Juneau. Controllers were great, got me out quickly, I must have passed 20 commercial jets on a parallel taxi way waiting for TO...:)
 
Wait, 65 year old retiring pilot and water skiing? Do they have hip replacement insurance? Aren't the FO's supposed to encourage them to do dangerous things like that much earlier in life?

Years ago I looked around that area, including Sequim. Jefferson County airport was my #1 choice, but even though in the shadow of the Olympics my wife decided we were going to head to the dry side of the Divide (something to do with her horses). Now I have a partner office in Tukwila. Go figure...
 
I grew up in Richland, so I've driven through that area a fair bit, and miss the landscapes. But I don't see myself moving back that direction.

Absolutely! We also encourage the Captain to eat the hot fudge sundaes offered by the FAs, as well as eat the less healthy of the two crew meals (although both are probably pretty bad!). :)
 
My younger brother bases his fishing guide business out of there in the fall. Some great salmon and sturgeon fishing on that part of the River. It’s a beautiful area and an ideal retirement location.
 
All in, your only a little over half what I pay in property taxes alone here in NW IL. and no hanger either. If you build a hanger home here IL you will pay taxes based on the square footage of the whole shebang! :-( another words if I could add a hanger to my house the taxes would almost double! Welcome to IL. where the governor has never met a tax he didn't like!
 
I got heat for the photo on a rainy day. We actually only get an average of 7.2" rain/year. Less than Phoenix or Tucson.

If one already owns their plane and relocated to Washington state, are there any sales/use taxes involved, or any state registration fees?
 
No. If you have already paid use/sales tax in another state......there is no tax due in WA.

And if not? Many states do not charge a sales/use tax on private-party sales. On a typical $100K airplane, that could mean paying $6K - $10K to Washington. Yuck. Especially when one has owned their plane for a long time.
 
If you don't like RAIN..............Desert Aire has the driest rain gauge in the state. We get MUCH less rain than Tucson or Phoenix.

Yup. When I inherited my dad's airplane and brought it to WA, the tax man wanted evidence that sales tax had been paid on it. Fortunately my dad had saved the paperwork from when he had bought it in California 20 years earlier, showing tax paid.

There is a flat $65/year registration fee for aircraft in WA.

That makes moving to Washington a rather expensive proposition. :( I get the same amount of rain here, but sure would like an airpark home.
