Neuropsych exam

so I’m an SSRI Path I guy who had been off Prozac for about four months now. My 3rd class medical has been suspended until I can get a report to the FAA in from a psychiatrist, along with my pharmacy records and past treatment records. My psychiatrist has now referred me for a neuropsychological exam to go into the report. I was wondering if anyone could provide insight on what the test would be like, how much it costs, and if this seems like I won’t get approved. I really just want to fly again. Those that have been involved in my treatment have said I’m healthy and I’ve been on The ground for almost a year, and have spent a ton of money for evaluations and travel fees that hold me to the standards of an ATP.

just to be clear, do you have a letter from the agency- REQUIRING a neuropsychology evaluation, or did you mean FAA credentialed psychiatrist? Or Both?

What I'm not getting here is if the letter demanded a HIMS neuropsychologist, or not. "Neurospsychologist familiar with aviation psychology" is the letter's "buzzword". that is a different crowd from "the psychologist that Joe psychiatrist is comfortable with....>"

If the Psychiatrist is a HIMS psychiatrist I suspect you would have said so....and a HM Psychiatrist would know who the FAA-credentialed psychology guys are.....

The psychiatrist was recommended to me by the northeastern office of aerospace medicine. The letter asked for the result of a psychiatric evaluation and pharmacy and clinical records. I sent him my records and I went in for the evaluation. A few weeks later he asks for a neuropsychological evaluation after “reviewing the FAA certification criteria”

Ah, Then you have no choice. You go to wherever the HIMS psychiatrist dictates that you go. I assume you would go to the guy in Parsippany, who is a real quality guy.

Yeah that’s who he referred me to

I have been through a neurcog. I am one of the 55-65 year old "normals". it's a bit overwhelming. All I can tell you is
(1) go well rested.
(2) go with no meds of any sort in your system
(3) Do NOT attempt to "prep"" the test battery. If you do, many of the tests will get queered and as these self validate, then you simply Deny the neuroPsych tools to acquit you.

Where are you located? I know some good doctors in CA.
