New Product Line for Caterpillar?

CAT does make cell phones if you were not aware.... just fyi.

There is a CAT branded cell phone. Not made by CAT but licensed. Also laptops, boots, backpacks and other things. You can get CAT chocolate if you’re a mining customer.

Don’t think you’ll see appliances anytime soon. ;) The latest retail stuff is portable generators competing with the likes of Honda. My line of work deals with MW instead of kw though.

That was pretty funny. I like the vacuum cleaner the most. I am too short for the washing machine!

LOL, I worked for a CAT dealer, not much anything CAT is actually made by CAT

It is obvious that during development, they brought in Tim Taylor as a consultant.

As a side note, GE Appliances is now owned by Haier and not by General Electric though Haier gets to use the GE branding for a number of years.

I don't have any CAT-branded anything, just my CAT dozer which, of course, is about as much of the real thing as it gets. ;)

If I end up with another big truck someday, I'd rather it have a Cat engine if nothing else because I've never owned or driven a Cat. I do think they overall sound better than their Cummins equivalents. A 3406 or 3408 (especially 3408) is what I'd like...

I know, and I find that sad in many ways. That said, the current lineup of GE appliances were not very good unless you bought the super high-end stuff. Even GE employees wouldn't buy them in many cases.

Yeah, I had read that their quality had slipped especially in comparison to some of their competition. It is always sad to see once top American brands decline and then get sold off to foreign competitors.

Agreed. We got a discount on those products and we bought some of their higher end appliances as well as a lower end dishwasher that was on sale at the time.

I will say that for the high end stuff, we had good luck. We bought the top of the line washer and dryer that they made in 2012. A couple of quirks now and then, but they washed clothes very well and had some cool features - they'd talk to eachother so after you finished a wash cycle, the correct dryer cycle was picked automatically. We did cloth diapers with the kids and so those units were worked HARD for 5 years. The washer up and quit the day before we went on vacation after having had it almost exactly 5 years. Personally I think that given the use, we got good life out of it. We ended up buying an Electrolux set to replace it and have been happy so far although it had an issue that had to get fixed under warranty for the washer early on.

The GE Profile refrigerator we bought in Ohio in... I think 2013 or 2014... was just awesome. Huge, did everything well, and even had a hot water dispenser built-in. We both wish we'd moved that to Kansas with us, but we didn't. The LG we got to replace it we've not been happy with but I think we've finally got it working.

The dishwasher was just a basic GE on clearance. It never washed dishes well at all.

In John Deere colors, but actually a Maytag gasoline powered washer.....with a standard transmission....the Buick engine in back is not part of the washer.

And listen to how quiet a gasoline powered washer is.... it's easy...

Cat has 62 factories in the US, and 72 oversees and they actually make things in those factories. Fly into 3MY sometime and I will walk you through the factories just here in Peoria Illinois, and you can see everything from dozers to wheel loaders to excavators and much more that is actually made by CAT.

You can also buy about anything these days with the John Deere branding. I've sold John Deere a good share of my life & you won't see any John Deere stuff in my home. When you wear Deere clothing everyday & you're surrounded by it at work it gets a bit old. New employees sure buy it up though.
