I've had a goPro for years and never used it flying. Today was super nice, so I thought I'd shoot a landing at cedar key with the camera running.

I'm interested in any (useful) feedback on either my flying, or what I can do to get better video.

Hope you enjoy watching 1/100 as much as I did flying it.

Since you asked for feedback... I thought the view out the window and of the panel where in perfect focus which can be hard to do. It would be nice if you could drop the camera down a bit and have less head liner and more panel showing but still see the full outside view. That plus maybe an audio adapter to more clearly hear the intercom/freq's while still maintaining your engine noise in the background.

Very nice! I would agree on the audio portion. But the video looked great!
 
What time where you there? I overflew there twice today on my trip to South Florida and back thinking I really need to go there some day both ways as I watched it pass by out the window.

Nice. I agree on trying to pan the camera down a bit.
I do like the camera placement - I like being able to see the view from the pilots prospective and still see some of the panel.

I love those over water approaches. You guys fly in a great part of the country.
 
Busy day at KCDK today - ramp was pretty well “slap full” all day.
Sure wish they’d dispose of that twin parked there that went in the drink well over a year ago - only taking up a tie down spot. No response from inquiries to the county council
But I digress - nice landing!
 
Nice landing, and great job on the video! Beautiful day today. Wish I could have been flying, but I took the motorcycle out for a while and enjoyed a bit of the afternoon. Glad you got up!
 
Great job :) Very sharp and nice and bright. Nice landing too!

Pretty much agree with the others:
  • Ideally tip the camera down and show more panel vs more headliner.
  • If you could tie into the planes intercom and radios I think the audio would be more interesting.
  • I dig the overlays and wish Gopro had something similar. I was surprised it was MPH vs Kts, especially for a Mooney!
  • Don't change anything when it comes to sharpness, contrast, colors or saturation...it looks awesome.
Maybe a few more fwiw:
  • Along the lines of tipping the camera down, if there is a way you could center it better would be nice. I still can't quite center mine and it drives me nuts but I found a way to see out both sides almost evenly.
  • Prop blur is a matter of personal preference...so in other words, don't chase that if it doesn't bother you. If it does drive you nuts start with a ND4 filter or maybe the next one up.
  • However somewhat related, if you can add a circular polarizer that glare on the windshield could be almost complete removed :) That will go the same for some of the instruments and outside water, etc. And often circular polarizers knock down the light a bit which helps towards reducing the propeller bananas. Lately I have been using a ND4 filter and then a circular polarizer for the inside shots.
...next thing you know you'll be adding another camera and then it gets crazy :) Plus it was cool seeing some Mooney videos. So many seem to be Cessna's, Piper's and Beech's. Keep 'em coming!!!
